28 (and a half) Weeks

Today’s post will be brief- and not crafty- sorry about that. Today I’m working all morning, am doing a knitting group with some close friends this afternoon and then today is also Paul’s birthday (his 30th!), so it makes for a busy day. But I wanted to show you guys a picture from this weekend to show you how much my belly has popped out. It’s ridiculous-this kid is getting huge (and so am I).

Still feeling pretty good, although I am noticing that after about 20 minutes of any activity I get completely worn out and feel like I need a nap, but I’ve been getting a lot done around the house, I think that the nesting phase has started. Yesterday I deep cleaned the whole downstairs and now it’s sparkling clean and it makes me so happy to be in my house when it’s so clean- it makes such a huge difference in my mood! We still have to organize and set up nursery stuff, though. We’ve got most of the stuff (crib, swing, dresser, etc) but we just have to actually get it all in place and put together. Well, the crib and swing are still in the back of our car because we don’t have a place to put them yet- so I gotta get my crafting stuff organized so we can get all that done. I’ll be sure to post pictures of the progress on the baby’s room/craft room/Paul’s study.. the poor kid is only going to get a corner of a room instead of a whole room. Maybe when we move next year he’ll get a real room, but I am sure he won’t mind as long as he’s got a warm bed, a full tummy and a clean diaper, right?

Two Years!

Yesterday we celebrated our two year anniversary! It’s a little crazy that it’s been two whole years since we got married, it seems like it’s gone so quickly (and then other times I can’t even remember what it was like before I was married!)

This was the first time we saw each other that day.

We had the best bridal party ever. Seriously.

It’s been the best two years of my life and I wouldn’t trade them in for anything. I love you, Paul!

My Baby Brother Gets Married.

This past weekend my baby brother got hitched! It was a beautiful ceremony.

Aaron and his new bride, Cynthia!

My brothers and my dad.

Aaron and Cynthia, just after getting married! Aren’t they adorable?

Erika and Ezra, right before the wedding.

Me, Paul and baby Toggle-buttons. (23 weeks and counting!)

Aaron and Cynthia’s first dance!

Youngest sister, Heidi, getting ready to send off the happy couple.

On their way to Santa Cruz!

Isn’t she the cutest thing you’ve ever seen?!

We’re so beyond happy for you, Aaron and Cynthia! Congratulations!

In other exciting news, my bestie Autumn had her baby on my BIRTHDAY! How exciting is that? The best birthday present ever! Welcome to the world, Ezra William!

Isn’t he just a perfect little bundle of cuteness? I got a chance to snuggle him and get my baby quota for the month.

We’re going to take advantage of the rest of our vacation and do a little shopping! Hope you all had a grand weekend and Mother’s Day!

Louella’s Birthday Dress

So I have been knitting, I swear. I just finished two projects today, in fact! But today I am just going to show you one. You know, so I can have something to blog about tomorrow.

So, without further ado, here is Louella’s Birthday Dress, made in honor of her 1st Birthday, which is tomorrow!

I thought the dress needed a bit of girly-ness, so I added the flower buttons.

I love it. I may end up making a sweater version of it for myself, just because the pattern is so darn cute. (Um, definitely not while I am pregnant, though.)

And for those of you who were wondering, here is the pattern link. (Raverly Link)

My mom, sister Erika and nephew Ez were in town for the weekend and I found these on my camera after they left! How cute is my nephew?

What a ham!

And a parting shot for you: We’re narrowing in on 20 weeks, and strangely enough I feel smaller than I did last week, even though horizontal stripes are supposed to make you look bigger.

Alright, I am off to the grocery store to pick up a few items to make Tortilla Soup for dinner. Yum.

Happy February.

I, for one, am glad that January is done. January is usually the most dull month (at least for me) , and while some exciting things have happened so far in the new year (obviously) I am always ready to move on. So, Happy February. I’m sort of halfheartedly looking for a job, and I’ve got a few prospects (and a second interview tomorrow) but it’s nothing that I’m super psyched about, but I think it’d be good for me to do something and keep myself busy until the baby comes, otherwise I’m likely to go crazy, especially since orders have dropped off a lot since the holidays.

Since I have nothing crafty to show you, I will just show you pictures from the wedding I was in last weekend. It was truly lovely, and I was so blessed to be a part of such a wonderful event.

Preparing For My Biggest Project Yet.

So, I’m a few months into my biggest project of my life.

Yep, I’m going to be a momma. We could not be more thrilled about this! I’m still pretty early on (almost two months, due in early September), but I couldn’t hold in any longer! (Also, I may not be able to fit into my clothes already, eek), also I was running out of ways to politely decline alcoholic drinks without seeming overly obvious about why I can’t partake.

So, while I’ll try to not turn this into a baby-blog, and try to keep it up with the crafts, it very may well turn out that this blog will basically be all about baby crafts. My apologies in advance, but all I can think about little baby sweaters and baby booties and teeny little baby clothes, you know how it is.

We’re just completely over-the-moon excited about our little Tiny Tong!

The Christmas Dump and all that.

We got home today. It’s always kind of a bummer, you know, the week between Christmas and New Years… everything gets so hyped up and everyone is running here and there, and then there is Christmas! And Christmas is amazing! But it has to end, and then there is the quiet week in-between. Anyhow, we’re home, had an uneventful roadtrip (which is really the best kind of roadtrip, you know?) Apparently as soon as we got to Tacoma all of the in-between roads (including big snowy mountain passes) got extremely bad, so we made it just in time, and then today was the first day they were clear, so our timing was perfect. So without further ado, the Christmas Photo Dump, with some  dialogue:

My baby brother is engaged!

My youngest brother Aaron and Cynthia got engaged on Christmas Eve. So adorable! And here they are opening presents.

And Ezra got a horse from his grandpa. He didn’t quite know what to do with it, but he sure had a fun time trying.

Also, he got a sword, which he used to try to impale people.

Joel, his girlfriend Krysta and Erika, opening presents on Christmas Eve

I guess I forgot to get pictures of everyone else that was there. I was too distracted by this:

Ha! My dad got me a lava lamp! It’s sooo awesome. Well, I haven’t heated it up all the way yet, it’s set up in my kitchen so I can look at it all the time. Also we got a hat rack for our living room! (I am hoping that this means the coats won’t end up on the couch all the time? A girl can hope, right?) and I got a darling hat from my sister that will get it’s own post sometime soon, an owl door stop, headbands, loads of earrings, a crock pot, some books, and I know there is more, I just can’t even think of everything at the moment… let’s just say I was spoiled rotten. And staying with my sister and not having to cook dinner every night (thanks, Mom!) or do any house cleaning, we got to stay up late and watch movies, chat, and color (You know, on one of those posters you get in the big red tubes?) We love those in our family, although drawing with Erika and Paul I pretty much just get put to shame.

So my break from knitting didn’t really end up being a break from knitting. I made a few projects and even had to go to JoAnn’s on an emergency run because I needed something to do with my hands, so I picked up some more yarn. I know, I am terrible. I just can’t take a break, even when I try. I think it’s an addiction, folks. Although, I think this was the first Christmas in many years that I haven’t gotten ANY knitting related things! Anyhow, I’ll update more later this week on the projects that I finished.

And don’t forget to check back on January 1st for my 3rd Blogiversary. There’s going to be a great giveaway!

Diagonali!

So we have a winner, it’s now named Diagonali. My Aunt Cynthia came up with the name, so I’ll get a little present to her.

This is my father-in-law wearing his new Diagonali Scarf!

So here is the Diagonali Scarf  pattern:
Two skeins Cascade 220 color Slate
Size 6 knitting needles

Cast on 20 stitches
Row 1: *K2,P2* Rep to end of row
Row 2: *P2, K2* Rep to end of row
Every 4 rows move your stitches over 1 stitch,
So at the beginning of the 5th row P1, K2, P2, and repeating until the end of the row.
Repeating this until your scarf is as long as you want it (Mine was about 6 ft long) and bind off!

Octopus finale

So, here is the best toy I’ve ever made, I think. He’s not as cute as the lamby or whatever, but he’s so much fun. And all these legs!

I really, really like this guy.

He likes to climb on my plants.

I’m sad that I have to give him up.

But I know that Ezra will enjoy him.

(the bottom end. Sorry Bess, there’s no beak!)

Little octo! I’m pretty pleased with him. What do you think?

Our Week Off

So, during this lovely vacation week we’ve been having I realized that I forgot my camera cord, and I had planned on blogging some stuff while we were here, that is clearly not possible, because I do not blog without pictures. That being said, here is an attempt at a pictureless blog entry. Not many of those around here, and I probably won’t get in the habit of it, because, obviously I am not a very good blogger and you all just come here to look at pictures of what I’ve made. Moving on.

We had an awesome stay with the Gibb’s in Port Orchard, and we all felt very decadent and luxurious drinking mojito’s on the estate lawn while playing Bocce Ball. Let me tell you, Gibbs vs Tongs, it was the best bocce ball game I’ve ever taken part in. The Gibbs squeaked out a victory after a very close match, and ended the game at an extremely close score of 21-20. That game, coupled with a few very good thrift store trips made the 2 1/2 days we spent with them very enjoyable, and of course, there will be pictures to follow.

Oooh, and we got to go to Ikea this week. Oh my. I do miss Ikea. We got a new down comforter and two duvet covers. I am so excited about these, and Autumn got a few essentials for her new little home in Lakewood. (She also got a new duvet and comforter!) I am all kinds of jealous about her cute little cabin near American Lake! But the craziest thing happened in Ikea, we ran into James and Alberta and their three little ones! How funny is it to run into a friend from Idaho in the Seattle Ikea?

Also, there’s been much wedding to-do. Rehearsal dinners, bachelorette parties, finishing up my bridesmaid dress (My mother is doing that, not me, so you can all breath a collective sigh of relief knowing that I am not in charge of sewing something), today is a picnic at Pt Defiance park, and I get to baby sit my nephew, Ezra, pick up Paul’s suit for the wedding, frost 600 cupcakes (I am not in charge of that, thank goodness.), making mix CD’s for dancing at the reception, and lots of reading Anne of Green Gables to the bride, and making sure everyone stays calm and happy.

So, that was my attempt at blogging without pictures, sorry about the lack of them, but someday when I am a smart girl I will remember to do things like pack the camera cord.

P.S. The giveaway is like 3/4ths done. I also forgot an essential thing to finish the give-away so SADLY it will not be published this week, but possibly early next week. Sorry, errybuddy!
