Louella’s Birthday Dress

So I have been knitting, I swear. I just finished two projects today, in fact! But today I am just going to show you one. You know, so I can have something to blog about tomorrow.

So, without further ado, here is Louella’s Birthday Dress, made in honor of her 1st Birthday, which is tomorrow!

I thought the dress needed a bit of girly-ness, so I added the flower buttons.

I love it. I may end up making a sweater version of it for myself, just because the pattern is so darn cute. (Um, definitely not while I am pregnant, though.)

And for those of you who were wondering, here is the pattern link. (Raverly Link)

My mom, sister Erika and nephew Ez were in town for the weekend and I found these on my camera after they left! How cute is my nephew?

What a ham!

And a parting shot for you: We’re narrowing in on 20 weeks, and strangely enough I feel smaller than I did last week, even though horizontal stripes are supposed to make you look bigger.

Alright, I am off to the grocery store to pick up a few items to make Tortilla Soup for dinner. Yum.

  1. Oh my goodness, Louella’s dress totally rocks. And I think it’s going to be so awesome that she and her friend Chloë will have special matching dresses.

Also, you look fabulous for being half way done with the pregnancy.

And another also, nice choice for dinner tonight. 😉

  2. Oh, I love that dress! And I could see it being a really cute post-pregnancy outfit for you. How long would it be?

Also, how do you make your tortilla soup? I need a good/better recipe.

  3. That is a very cute dress indeed, and I like the color!
I was wondering about your camera – it’s a Nikon, right? I’m not sure which one exactly though, and I was wondering which kind of cameras you could recommend.

  4. Bess, Dana- Thanks. It’s a fun pattern, and I think it’s sooo cute.
Aut- I think I’d just make it sweater length? I don’t know, I don’t think I’d do it a dress, just because that’d take FOREVER and I don’t have that much patience, also because knitted things tend to cling weird and if it was a dress it might not be so flattering on a post-pregnant body. But a sweater-vest type style might be kind of cool? Also the recipe I used (although heavily modified) was this one:
    http://www.delish.com/recipefinder/hearty-chicken-tortilla-soup-recipe-campbells-1109
I used less chicken (about 1 and a half chicken breasts, and it was PLENTY)
I added a can of kidney beans for a bit more protein and more corn, too. We sprinkled cheese with a dollop of sour cream and served it with tortilla chips and made a side of cornbread to go with it. It was pretty tasty! Paul said it could have used a bit more spice, but spice these days for me = heartburn so it was a no-go.:) I also left out the cilantro because I don’t like it, although if you like cilantro it’d be mighty tasty. we didn’t make our own chips, either, cuz I’m lazy like that.

  5. Vanessa,
I have a Nikon D40 that I bought about 3-4 years ago and I love it. It’s been dropped and abused and still works great. (Except for one broken lens, but that was entirely my fault. I dropped it on a hardwood floor! But bought a replacement one for pretty cheap on Amazon) It’s kind of heavy, but it’s so worth it to be able to take decent shots of close-up knitting projects that you can’t get with a regular point and shoot camera. If you are looking for a quality camera the Nikons are great and pretty affordable, too. This thing has been used a LOT over the past few years, it’s traveled through Europe, been to beaches and mountains and everywhere inbetween and I’ve never had a problem with it. I’m a huge supporter of Nikon!
