Hammerhead II

I made another Hammerhead shark. I like this guy.

He’s a bit chubbier than the last hammerhead I made, which I think works for this guy since I couldn’t get his eyes quite right.

I actually ended up having to remake this guy 3 times just to figure out how to get his head on right. I couldn’t remember how I did it the first time I made him and of course I wasn’t smart enough to write down the pattern, naturally.

But all is well. He is with his new cute little owner now, who I hope will love him as much as I did.

In other knitting news, I am thinking of making some kind of a knitted mobile for the baby, and wanted your input. What sort of things should I knit for it? A sea-creature mobile? An animal mobile? Geometric-shape mobile? Birdie-mobile? Slugs, snails and puppy dog tails? Let me know in the comments what you think I should make! I like it when other people are creative for me!

  1. my vote is shapes in black and white so your babe can see them sooner, then since you have so much free time, shapes in colors for when he is older. πŸ™‚ When are you coming back to Tacoma to visit??

  2. Oh, oh, oh! Yes! A knitted mobile sounds absolutely adorable! You know, if you want a mobile tester I might be able to scrounge one up for you in about two to three weeks. =)

  3. Oh, as for what, maybe not sea creatures? Geometric shapes or birds. Maybe geometric shapes in black and white and then, as Dana suggested, colors for the later bird mobile.

  4. do you have a “theme” for the babies stuff?? maybe something that would fit your color scheme or the “look” you want. I think it sounds really cute!!
you could do little lambs or a moon and cow-maybe nursery rhyme things??

  5. Great shark! As a Florida fishing guide of 43 years, that is a first for my eyes to see a knitted Hammerhead. What would it cost me for you to make one for me (include shipping) and as an artist, you should sign it. Can you also do other fish like snook, tarpon, barracuda, sailfish, tuna, etc.? There may be a market for your talent here in Florida?

  6. BlueBarracuda,
Thanks so much! My prices are $15 for a stuffed animal. I could definitely give some of those other fish a try if you wanted me to! I always love making up new patterns! Shipping for them is usually extremely cheap because they’re pretty lightweight. Usually around $1.50 or so. Email me at lexikaye@gmail.com if you would like to place an order and I would be more than happy to get started on some for you!
