Ouch!

So, I’ve got what the doc says is “stress-related frozen shoulder” which is really, REALLY painful and prevents me from doing fun stuff like knitting (and necessary things like dressing myself). So, sorry about there not being a WIP Wednesday yesterday, but it might be up to two weeks before it becomes unstiff and moveable again so knitting and crocheting are taking a back seat to sitting on the couch and watching Heroes. Which I guess is ok.

Paul and I are just a whole bunch of fun, what with his torn ligaments in his ankle and my frozen shoulder. We’re kind of pathetic right now.

That’s all. Happy Thursday and can’t wait for the weekend.

WIP Wednesday IV

Oops, so I missed Wednesday, hope you don’t mind a catch up on Sunday evening! I’ve been working on the Shalom Cardigan for Erika for Christmas.

The biggest ball of yarn I’ve ever worked with!

Oh noes! WHAT IS THAT?!

So, off the needles it went and I pulled out the whole thing. Yep. Started again from scratch. Arg. But I would feel bad giving Erika a demented sweater. So, I suppose it was a good thing that I had only gotten through the yoke of the sweater and not gotten any farther down the body of it. So now we’re back to stage 1. Ok, actually I’ve done 3 rows, so maybe we are at stage 2.

Such is life when knitting.

But Thanksgiving was amaaazing.

Ezra was enchanted by the Christmas Tree

I got some good smiles and giggles

and Ez got to watch football with Uncle Paul.

So pictures of Ezra’s sweater while he’s wearing it are still forthcoming. We kind of forgot/kept putting off getting a photoshoot and now I am back in Moscow and he’s in Tacoma and such is life. But here is what the sweater looks like while laying on my floor:

So that should sedate you until I talk Erika into sending me a picture of Ez wearing it.

Now, it’s time to unpack and tidy up.

In Tacoma

I’m in Tacoma now! And I finally gave Ezra his present, which means that I can post a picture! But unfortunately I don’t have my camera. (oops) so I will try to steal Erika’s, and steal Ezra and get up a picture ASAP because it’s the best thing you ever saw. Seriously, I’m super happy with how it turned out. Ezra sure doesn’t care, but his momma likes it. And that’s the best.

Knitty Button, now complete with labels!

This morning as I perused the shelves of Michael’s I was still really unsure about how I wanted my tags to look, for the stuff that’s now in the Storm Cellar, and I initally was thinking about printing something off, maybe in a cool font, but the more I looked at the stamps I thought it might be a cool idea. So I bought some stamps and here’s what I came up with!

The weekend!

So glad that the weekend is finally here! It has been a long week. Last night Paul fell and sprained his ankle. Luckily it’s not too bad, and we got a brace for it, so he’s able to hobble around, although he did get a day off of work (I was jealous).

I finished a few more bags, I know, I’ve just been cranking them out. But they are so fun!

I am in the process of making another Martha Neck Scarf, which is always a fun, quick project, this time in a classic white. My orange one really only goes with my orange peacoat so I wanted something that might match a few more things, and as it’s going to be a long, cold winter this side of the mountains I thought a nice white neck scarf was in order!

And this evening Paul and I have been trying to decide on a logo of sorts to use for the things that I am trying to sell at The Storm Cellar, if anyone has any great ideas, they’d be appreciated.

WIP Wednesday III

Work in progress: Green  Blanket. It’s been a WIP for a while now. It’s just a nice soothing project, because it’s just knit every row. No purling, no cables, just increasing and decreasing. Super simple and calm.

But I really like how the edges turn out when you increase on the 2nd stitch.

And now: More bags! Yep, these are my favorite of the ones I’ve made. The Storm Cellar has agreed to put them in their shop for me! So hopefully I can sell some of them!

They’re pretty easy and super quick. I’m having alot of fun making them!

What projects are you working on?

two posts in two days? don’t get used to it.

So I made another bag last night, and it’s my favorite so far. I altered the pattern to make it less floppy on the top, and a bit deeper, and it looks/works much better. And it’s pink! Cuter.

nov 005

And my next one is going to be made out of this yummy looking speckled cream colored one. I’m pretty excited about this one!

nov 006

Also tried my hand at blocking last night. I finished Paul’s scarf, but knits have that way of curling about them. It didn’t look very good.
nov 001*Pardon the nasty indoor/outdoor carpet. Eh, such is life living in a rental.

nov 002So I dunked it in the sink, then gently squeezed and pressed the water out. (Whatever you do DO NOT wring it out. Bad news for handknits) Then we pinned it to the floor into the shape and we’re letting it dry overnight and then all of today. This evening I’ll take it off and see if it stays blocked. If not, well then, honey, you’re getting a curly scarf.

WIP Wednesday II

Time for another WIP Wendesday!

So, I received some loverly cotton yarn, I believe most of this stash is from Aubree, and I had lots of it, but cotton isn’t the best for hats and scarves, it’s just not very soft. So I wasn’t sure what to do with it. Then I came across this PurlBee pattern, and knew instantly that was what I wanted to make with my cotton! They used linen, but the cotton works just fine, too.

wip wednesday 001

I have finished two bags so far, they’re really easy and each one only took me an evening.

wip wednesday 002

Tada, reusable grocery bags, which I am thinking about selling at The Storm Cellar.

wip wednesday 007

They’re deceptivly small! They don’t look like they would hold very much, but they really stretch!

brown hair 001

Full of whatever was in my cupboard, just to see how much it could hold. The blue one is a bit big. If you fill it as much as it can hold you wouldn’t be able to carry it, because it would be too heavy. I need to alter the pattern a bit to get it just right, but luckily I have lots and lots of yarn to work with!

wip wednesday 006

Oh, and I’m a brunette now. I keep freaking myself out when I walk past a mirror.

WIP Wednesday.

So, maybe this should be under “Terrible-Picture-Tuesday” because I didn’t take the time or energy to take good pictures, but instead this will be “Work-In-Progress-Wednesday” cuz I said so. Now you should hold me to this, this WIP Wednesday stuff. I am going to TRY to post my WIP every Wednesday. We’ll see how I do, although we all know my history of failure.

So here, meet the birds.

knitting 004

I’m not 100% sure what I am going to do with them yet, but possibly make some sort of a mobile or sompin’.

knitting 007

I really like how each of their faces turned out a little bit differently.

knitting 009

So there’s the little flock.

And now to another project, the husband scarf. It’s cold here, and he needs to keep warm.

knitting 012

He picked out the colors and the yarn all by himself. Good choice, husband, good choice.

knitting 013

So that’s all I got for today. Back to work with me.
