Another iPod cozy

I made this one for a girl at work, I made this one out of cotton, so it will be a bit more durable

I call it “Bubblegum”

Pattern:

Cast on 28 stitches
Split onto 3 DPN’s
Knit in the round until it’s about 1/4 inch longer than your iPod (or iPhone)
Bind off 14 stitches.
On remaining 14 stitches knit 4 rows stockinette stitch
K2t on each end on every knit row for 3 rows (you should have 8 stitches)
Knit in stockinette stitch for 6 rows
Knit 3, bind of 2 stitches, knit 3
Purl 3, add 2, knit 3
Knit these 8 stitches in stockinette stitch for 4 more rows.
Bind off all stitches, weave in loose ends.
On bottom, sew together the open bottom end of the iPod cozy.

-Tip: While knitting in the round, feel free to switch colors as often as you want. I don’t cut and attach the yarn when I do stripes, I just pull it behind my knitting and let it lay there while I am doing another color, this saves a LOT of time, and it is a big ugly on the inside, but there are alot less ends to tie in, plus less knots to tie!

-Tip: If you want to do it ribbed just k2P2 the entire pattern, swapping colors as wanted.

On the pink and blue one I used Peaches and Cream, just because I had it on hand, but the cotton seems to work really well for this sort of thing, and holds up well to frequent use!

iPod Cozy

I accidentally spilled Kung Pao Chicken on my other iPod cover (Don’t ask, it was a bad day) so I had to make another.

It’s crappy quality picture because it’s dark in my house and there’s no overhead lighting in the living room and I was too lazy to get off the couch to take a picture of it, yes, that’s how lame I am.

Nautilus

So, many many bad jokes could be made about this little dudes name. “Nautie, Nautie” I believe was the title… but I will steer clear of that and just show you how cute he is.

Oh, now I see some stuffing coming out of his shell. Well, I’ll fix that after work.

He’s even got a creepy little cephalapod face… creepy but kinda cute?

Ok, so he doesn’t really look like a nautilus (See picture below), but it’s enough like it so that you can tell what it is, right?

Ok. Well.. sorta.

I thought the shell looked kind of cool before I attached the head and rolled it up.

it was like 2 ft long!

Testing, testing, 123.

Ok. So this might seem a little random, but I was wondering if any of you out there would be willing to test knit some patterns for me. You know, just to see if there’s any glaring mistakes and things like that. Since I made them up, I might not explain them very well, things like that. I’d be willing to give you the yarn to work with, if you didn’t want to use up any of your stash of yarn.

Patterns needing testing currently are of my Elephant, Turtle and the Ewok.

It wouldn’t be a big deal if you couldn’t finish them, but if there was anyone out there who wanted to give it a try, that would be super helpful for me! You can either just leave a comment here, letting me know which pattern you’d like to try, or email me at lexikaye (@) gmail (.) com and I can send you the pattern.

Tea Dye

So I tried a strange experiment the other day while knitting up my Ewok. I needed some off-white yarn, but all I had was pure white. So, I threw my yarn in a pot and brewed it with some tea.

I know it looks like pasta, but it would not be an enjoyable dinner.

I probably should have left it in there for just a little longer, it could have used a bit more color, but it accomplished the job just fine.

Oh, and please don’t mind the dirty kitchen….

Brody!

I just have to show this off. This is baby Brody! Baby of my dear friend and former roommate Hope Eifert.

He’s wearing the jacket and the booties I made for him! Granted the sweater looks like it’s getting a bit tight, but hey, the booties still fit! And how cute is he, with his blonde surfer hair! I love this little guy!

Ewok

Ok, so this might just be too ridiculous, but I really wanted to knit an Ewok. I just finished him tonight.

I am aware that this is weird. I got the inspiration because apparently over 200 people have found my blog by looking up “Ewok Boats” into a search engine. Weird, I know. So, since they are apparently getting to my blog by searching something about Ewoks, I might as well give them something Ewok related to look at. So, my very own knit Ewok. I was surprised that there weren’t any knit Ewok patterns out there, so I had to make it up pretty much make it up as I was going along, so that’s why it may or may not even look like an Ewok at all… I’ll take better pictures of it later, but I just finished it a few minutes ago and couldn’t wait to put it up on the blog!

Giveaway!

Yep! It’s true! This could be yours! It’s a toddler size sweater, approximately 2T or 3T, I’m not super sure about the exact size. It’s purple and cream, it’s probably more of a girls sweater, however if you’re a big UW fan, it could go either way.
