Sometimes we’re not happy

Sam got his 12month shots today. He’s been really fussy and really clingy since then.

But in other news, we got weighed and is now 18 pounds! That puts us in the 4th percentile for weight, which is great! His head, however, is in the 75th percentile, so I guess my kid has a lollipop body or something. He’s also walking like a pro these days, walking all the way across rooms!

Since his weight gain has been so good we are going to try weaning off of the Zantac (for his GERD) and seeing how he does. It’s possible that the problem has already resolved itself, so we’ll try a couple of days off of the medication and see how he does. We’re hoping that he stays happy and continues to gain weight, but we’re trying to stay optimistic, as his doctor said it might take up until 18 months for the problem to be completely resolved.

And now we’re gonna go read some books, because that’s the only thing keeping us happy at the moment!

Sock Monkey, with a monkey model.

So, I didn’t get any great shots, because my little monkey man was too busy jumping on the couch, like a true little monkey. But this is a 6-9 month sock monkey costume, custom ordered for Halloween for some lucky little kid!

If you’d like to order one, please let me know (lexikaye@gmail.com) ASAP, there are only a few spots left for me to be able to make them by Halloween!

Monkeys Monkeys Everywhere…

Currently making sock monkey costumes for Halloween. That’s probably all I’ll be knitting for the next six to eight weeks, so there probably won’t be a whole lot of knitting variety on the blog this month. But maybe some fun stuff of Sam instead. He will be ONE YEAR OLD in a matter of weeks. This is astounding to me.

Here you can see Sam learning how to walk. It’s great fun and he is really entertained by trying to walk around the house all day. Keeps us busy and we have a lot of laughs.

Sam also really likes it when we sing, (Well, he really likes it when Paul sings to him, at least) and is learning how to dance.

Along the same lines, Paul and I have started up a little band project. We’re called The Apple Brigade and you can like us on Facebook so you can find out when our shows are. We tentatively have one planned for near the end of September.

Month 11

Time for Samuel’s monthly pictures! Here’s a link to Month 1, and Month 2Month 3Month 4Month 5, Month 6 ,Month 7 , Month 8  Month 9 and Month 10 in case you missed them! This has been a fun month for Sam. He is getting such a great personality. He is really talkative and likes to “read” (eat) books. He is still not walking, but tentatively taking a few steps here and there.  His GERD still seems to be pretty well controlled and he is pretty happy most of the time (unless I am on the computer!) He is such a happy boy now that it seems silly to think he was ever a colicky baby! He is eating everything and anything (except green beans) and is a joy to have around!

Family Camp

We went camping this past weekend on Lake Couer d’Alene with our church. We had such a great time!

I even had a chance to get some knitting done! I am still working on it, it’s the Sunlight Shawl for Sad People, made with Plymouth Brand Happy Feet sock yarn. I really like how it’s turning out, and I adore the colors!

And I’ve got 3 sock monkey costumes to crank out before Halloween, so blogging might be a bit light!

Pixie Hat for Sam

This is one of my new favorite patterns! I am definitely going to be making this one again.

I made Sam a pixie hat (maybe we can come up with a more masculine name?) Followedthis pattern for Stella’s Pixie Hat, made with Plymouth Brand “Happy Feet” sock yarn. Made the smallest size, on size 3 needles, should fit him through this winter. I am in love with this yarn, it is sooo scrumptious. I love the subtle color flecks in the yarn and it’s so squishy and nice! And the way this pattern is knit is really fun. You knit it flat and then kitchener stitch the back together then add the button band!

Booties

A pair of booties for baby Logan (my cousins baby!)

Josetta was modeling them so nicely for me. She crossed her legs and was being so cute and demure!

I really like the way they turned out!

A Solemn Goodbye

It is with heavy hearts we announce the loss of our youngest child. Our baby was lost to miscarriage on 7/20/12. Thank you for your prayers and support during this difficult time.

We will miss you, baby. For 12 weeks we were eagerly anticipating meeting you, but we will have to wait a little longer until we meet in heaven. We know you are in an infinitely better place and get to meet our Lord and Savior. We would have loved to know you in this life, but we rejoice knowing that we will get to meet you in the next.

Baby Boy Pompom Hat

And now, a little something for the boys!

The colors look really different when I used the flash…the colors are much more true to life in the second picture.

It’s up for grabs in my Etsy store, if you want it for your very own!

Blue Bonnet

A hat for a brand new tiny little guy. It’s too small for Sam, but hey, he’s the only model I’ve got right now!

I also made this hat for him, too.

Can’t wait to meet the new little guy!
