And we’re back!

Sorry for the longer-than-anticipated absence. We’re still working on getting my computer hooked up to the internet (you know, the computer with all my pictures and projects stored on it) so it’s been kind of a deterrent for blogging. So I finally gave up and decided to just to it on Pauls computer. We’re still working on getting the boxes unpacked, and as soon as we do that I will show you pictures of our lovely house. But until then you’ll just have to see what I’ve been making.

So, we had another round of baby showers this weekend, and again, I forgot to take a picture of Bess’s before it was wrapped and shipped off. So, you can see what 1/2 of it looked like, and that’s this:

So once it was finished it looked more like this (the original pattern):

And then some more baby-old-man sweaters:
The purple for Afton’s baby girl, and the brown for Emily’s baby boy, so the cute cousins can be matching.

And then I’ve been making another green dress, not for any one in particular, but this is a toddler size, so I am not sure who it will fit, but I am sure I can find a taker.

It’s a nice soft green color. Quite pretty, really.

Well, I best be off to unpack more boxes, but I will be back later this evening with a fun DIY!

Baby Sweater

Two down, two to go. Most recently finished:

And good thing, this next baby shower is tomorrow morning.

I’ll keep you posted on the rest of them.

Baby-Sweater-Fest

I haven’t been blogging, we’ve been busy, but mostly for the reason that we’re having a lot of upcoming baby showers, and I’ve been knitting up baby sweaters like crazy. A little taste:
and also I need a bit of help. Which buttons would you use?

Another one:
and also I need some help. The buttons will be on the top, fastening the neck opening. Are the flowers a bit too cutesy? When in doubt the plainer is a bit better, however, the flowers are pretty darn cute.

And another work in progress.
It’s currently in the blocking process. There will be a big collar, a similar one to I made for Ezra a while back. Kind of an old-man type sweater. I love it.

And this was our yard sale score! There weren’t many good sales on Saturday, but this one we found in our FRONT YARD! The girl who lives upstairs was having a yard-sale, and it’s still residing in our kitchen, because of the move we’ve got nowhere to put it, but hopefully it’ll be our new nightstand for the bedroom.

And it’s got my birthday flowers on it!

So go back and let me know which buttons I should use for the sweaters!

Nigel’s Hoodie

Making another hoodie, this time for baby Nigel. What a cutie! Can’t wait for the baby shower. Making it the same pattern as I made the hoodie for Ezra.

So, it will basically be like this one, modeled by beautiful baby Ez, only green and with a few tweaks.

I’ll keep you updated!

Buttony-Finished.

I finished the Buttony Sweater this evening! I love it. I haven’t blocked it yet, obviously, but wanted to show you all.

I’m pretty much in love with it. And planning on wearing it to work tomorrow.

Not the most flattering view, but it was taken from the couch.

But I am up pasty my bedtime, so goodnight.

Buttony Update

Since I’ve been home sick, I’ve gotten alot done on my Buttony Sweater while lying on the couch coughing and feeling pretty gross. When I was gone last weekend to Tacoma Paul wasn’t feeling well, and thought it was allergies, but when I got home and got the same thing 2 days later, well, we’re pretty sure it’s not allergies! But I digress, the Buttony:

I’ve almost completed the bodice. About 4-5 more inches to go until I end the bottom. And then just adding sleeves (which to me is the worst part, I don’t know why)

But I DO love how the raglan style does sleeves. It looks like I sewed it together, but it’s all ONE piece, which is great because seaming is pretty much the lamest thing ever. Ever.

Ew. That picture makes it look gross and acrylic. It’s not, people. It’s made out of my fav Eco wool.

By the time I finish it I probably won’t have the weather to wear it until next fall, however, as we’re still getting snow flurries and freezing nights, I think I might get a chance if I finish it up soon!

A quick link for you, Charissa posted a super cute DIY for a fun, bold necklace. I am definitly going to try it out, so you should, too!

I made a Monkey

A monkey for a friend, but she doesn’t know it yet, so I can’t reveal her identity.

Cute, no?

I wasn’t so sure about the nose… it looked a little weird, but once it was all done I think it turned out ok.

Ezra didn’t approve, though.

He just wanted to spread yogurt on him.

My Swift

Want to see the swift in action? I had some inquiries as to how it actually worked… so here it is!

Yarn comes like so:

Or possibly like this:

Gently untwist it into a large circle:

Attach your swift to a stable surface (I used a heavy book shelf, so it wouldn’t budge)

Expand your swift, but not all the way:

Lift your yarn and put it around the swift, making sure not to get it hooked on the edges. No tangles!

Find your end:

Start making a ball:

Keep rolling, and voila! You’ve got yourself a ball of yarn!

And that’s my swift!

Oops.

So, remember like, two days ago when I was all excited because I ordered a swift?

My bad. My bad. My bad.

I need to remember things like “Don’t buy things that you’ve been telling your husband you want for the past 6 months, especially 2 1/2 weeks before your birthday”- ever heard of that one? Yikes. Luckily, I was able to cancel my order before it shipped, so I wasn’t even charged, or had to go through an annoying return process!

Paul got me an amazing GREEN swift! It’s so cute. It’s, um… retro? (Old, but not an antique, still pretty sturdy.)  He found it at The Storm Cellar, and saw me oogling it when we were there a few weeks ago. I’ll post pictures soon. He let me have it early because I am working on a sweater (made from Cascade Eco, which needed to be balled), so I am a happy camper!

That and I get to meet Louella (newborn daughter of one of my closest Moscow friends) this evening, and I am so excited to give her the Ripple Blanket!

Ok. Off to work!

I caved.

I caved and finally bought myself a swift. It should be here next week, and I am excited to put it to use! I’ve got 4 skeins of Eco Wool waiting to be balled and sweaters to make, so this should be a nice little treat. For me, and for Paul (I always make him hold the yarn while I ball it!)

Hooray for Amazon!
