Scalloped Cowl

For my mothers 50th birthday I made her this scalloped cowl out of some 100% wool sport weight yarn.

I think I may need to make one for myself because I love, love, loved it.

Yesterday afternoon I took Sam downtown to “trick or treat” with some friends. He wasn’t really into it, but mama got some candy! And then last night we got invited to go see a show by Hey Marseilles and SeaWolf! It was so much fun to be able to catch up with Jacob (who I went to high school with and is in the band Hey Marseilles!) and get out on a date with Paul on Halloween. We didn’t dress up, but we really should have.

Fall

It’s fall. And it’s cold. And we’ve got gourds and pumpkins decorating the living room. I love fall decor! And I also love our new (to us) blue piano.

We just got back from Tacoma last night. My dad, Erika and I worked out a surprise for my mom and we managed to pull it off! It’s not easy keeping secrets from my mother! We had a great surprise birthday party for her, thrown by my dad and my aunts and we all had a blast being able to celebrate her 50th together!

Quick note, if you’d like to place a Christmas order, please do so soon. I have limited space this year due to some large custom orders- so I may run out of room sooner than normal.

Family Pictures

We had our family pictures taken last weekend. Sam was a bit of a grump, but we managed to get several decent ones.

Thanks, Laureas for giving us some great family shots!

Fall and Leaves

The weather has been stunning so far this fall, clear blue sky and multicolored leaves falling onto our yellow grass. Sam loves to run around in the leaves.

He kept using the pumpkin like a pacifier. A little bit big for that, buddy.

We’ve really been enjoying the cooler weather and be able to play outside at the park without getting sunburns or heatstroke. Also happy to note that we are all healthy again after a nasty bout with the stomach bug, which we unfortunately passed on to Charissa who got to come visit us! And nothing ruins a fun weekend like the stomach flu. Luckily it was a 24 hr bug, so besides having the flu-hangover for a few days afterwards we were back to normal within a day. Sam didn’t get it, which is great- but it’s so hard chasing after a kid who is intent on scaling the walls while you have your head in the toilet.

Yeah, we had to take this toy out of rotation because he kept climbing on it and trying to jump off!

He also likes to be my workout buddy. He loves my 1lb weights.

He’s also started fake laughing, which is HILARIOUS. He feels left out when we’re laughing and he’s not in on the joke, so he chimes in with his “Ha ha!” I love it, and it just makes us laugh even harder. He is such a ham.

As far as knitting goes: ONE MORE Sock Monkey and I am done! Whew. Then to start on my Christmas orders! I will be happy to not knit another Sock Monkey until next Halloween…. Im just hoping people order them sooner rather than waiting until mid September to ask about them! But I’m not complaining- I am so glad to have work and an opportunity to get my knits out there.

Also- for any locals- there are some of my hand knit baby hats now at Hansel and Gretel downtown!

Happy 4th of July!

We had aย thoroughly enjoyable Independence Day!

Sam and I broke out our matching outfits, including some red shoes!

We went out with some friends and ate a lot of dessert and watched some great fireworks. It was a lot of fun, even though Sam was not a huge fan of the fireworks. But once I got him in the MobyWrap and snuggled tight he was fine.

I forgot to get any pictures while we were hanging out with friends, but you know it’s a good time when you look at your phone and you realize nearly three hours have passed!

Thanks for the invite and party, Abra! We had a great time.

Hanging out

Nothing too exciting to show you all, we’re just hanging out in Tacoma- keeping busy- seeing family, friends and getting lots of knitting done while there are plenty of willing hands to play with Sam.

Here’s just a few snapshots of our week:

My Boys!

Due to there being a lot of snow this week, we spent a lot of time just hanging out at home. Sam enjoyed getting his parents undivided attention.

Sam sure does make some entertaining faces!

I love seeing Sam play with his dad, it’s so great to see how much they love each other.

Sam was watching a football game from up there on his little perch on dad’s head. He loves sitting way up high!

He also likes to use his dads wrist as a teething toy. Yum.

This kid makes the best faces, right?

Just wanted to show off some pictures of my boys, I got pretty lucky, right?

Cousins!

Samuel got to meet his cousin Iris this week!

She’s only a couple weeks older than Sam!

Iris gave Sam this ball for Christmas, and they both love it!

And Grandma Gloria made him some bib-bandanas! So cute, right?

Sam tried to eat the ball, but Iris kept getting it right out from underneath him.

Uncle Phil got some double-baby-holding experience. It does take some skill!

Both of the babies look a little grumpy here, but it was past both of their bedtimes. But they were both pretty happy, I swear!

But we couldn’t for the life of us get a picture of them looking in the same direction. Hah!

Isn’t she just a little scrumptious nugget? I love her! So glad that she and Sam could meet!

Samuel’s Baptism

While we were in Tacoma for Christmas Samuel got baptized! We had it done at my home church, by Pastor Rayburn on Christmas Morning, and it was lovely.

He was baptized with water from the Jordan River!

And if any of you are curious about Sam’s baptismal gown, that was ALSO made by my mom! She’s so crafty (I wonder where I get it, right?) Here’s a close up:

She knows what I like, that woman!

I need to get Sam to make his pouty face so we can get him in his baptismal gown next to my picture of me in my baptismal gown.

Gray Hat and Happy New Year

Hello Knittybutton Readers! Sorry for taking such a long break for Christmas.. I didn’t really mean to be away for a whole week, but I ended up just having such a great time with my family, and then when we got back to Idaho I just wanted to spend the rest of the break enjoying Sam and hanging out with Paul. BUT I did get quite a bit of knitting done. Amazing what you can get done when you’re not taking the time to blog!

Anyhow, I made my brothers girlfriend, Krysta this hat for Christmas!

I guess I have a smaller head than most, because it was a bit too snug on her. And then my Sister in Law Cynthia told me the hat I made for her last Christmas was too small for her, too. Oops.

It turned out pretty well,ย consideringย that I whipped it up the day before Christmas!

I’ll be back tomorrow with more knits! Thanks for being so patient with me!
