I need your input…

So I am doing a craft sale early in August. I don’t know where it’s at yet, so I’ll keep you posted. It’s going to be a collaboration thing with Heather, Charissa and Autumn.

There isn’t much time, and knitting takes time, as does crocheting, so I am thinking of whipping out some cute little purses and whatnot and stretching my sewing muscles a bit more than my knitting little fingers! Could be exciting, so I’ll keep you posted on the things that I am making, but also I’d love to get some input from you guys as to what cute little things I could make to sell that are easy and quick.

I’m going to give Grandma’s baby booties one more shot before I put the pattern away forever, but they’re mighty difficult and I can’t quite figure them out. Maybe some hats or socks, anyone else have any ideas? I was also thinking of selling some of my prints, like going and actually getting some of them framed or something, which could be kind of fun too, I don’t know that anyone would buy them, but it might be worth a shot.

How I wish you could see the potential, the potential of you and me

So I haven’t been neglecting my crafts, but none are finished enough to really show. One of these days I will have so many projects to show, but right now I am kind of in the middle of alot of different crafties. Mostly of the crochet and knit variety. However, I’ve had just about the best time thrifting (is that a verb?) I’ve gotten some real finds lately, I’m on a roll! Here are some pictures.

An adorable apron I found, which I’m absolutely in love with.

I have found alot of dishes recently.

Um, hello, 25 cents for the whole lot of them? Ok!

These bowls are my favorite.

Except for maybe these bowls might be my favorite.

I have a pretty impressive collection of black and white dishes, mostly found for my table at the women’s Christmas Brunch.

And these little gems… small purple dessert plates!

May I say that mustard is my new favorite color, and mustard at clearance thrift store prices is much better.

So there’s an update!

It’s growing!

Sorry for long absences! I’ve been crafting, I promise. The crocheted Trinity Blanket is growing! I stupidly forgot which brand of yarn I bought and I’m almost out of the dark blue border, so I have to go find some more and hope it’s the same brand. Oops. Also, a picture of the earrings that I made on the Wild West Women’s Rodeo Roundup this weekend. (I also got some sun. Yay)

(I kind of think that the pink ones look like gum, but maybe that’s just me.)

I now have seven of the circles

A close up of the Trinity blanket now that the triangles are attached to the circles and the circles are attached together.

Seven down, 14 to go!

We took a trip to Point Defiance

Charissa, Courtney and I went down to Point Defiance and had a little photo shoot with my lovely camera.

I know it’s gunna be a close call

So this is Ben’s Birthday Blanket. It’s only two months late. Oops.

It’s really, really big, but he’s tall so it’s all good. I will get pictures of Charissa’s and Autumn’s birthday blankets soon.

My future’s so bright, I gotta wear shades…

Since Erika tagged me, I suppose I have to do it. This is a completely non-craft related post. Very rare, I know. But the birthday blanket is almost ready to be unveiled. (Now you guys are going to think that this birthday blanket is going to be something very special, but it’s really just one giant granny square. Judge me not.)

1) Ten years ago I was…
Homeschooled, 11, chubby, living in Portland. I liked China Dolls (How embarrassing). Brynn and I would make up dances and dance them in the living room, but Erika was too embarrassed to dance with us, even though we know she secretly wanted to.

2) Things on my to do list today:

– Work until 5:15

– Go to another bridal shower

– Buy milk (I’ve been out forever)

3)Things I would do if I was suddenly a billionaire:

Buy me a house with runnin’ water. Just kidding. But I would buy a sweet house on American lake, big enough to have our Kvale family reunions, Christmas and Thanksgiving and all eat in the same dining room. I would put some money into stocks, I would buy myself a little shop to sell my crafts in and then finally I would pay off all of my cousins’ college bills. (You know I love you guys)

4) Bad Habits:

-Ignoring my laundry until I have no clean clothes left.

-Ignoring my closet until it’s a huge mass of clothes

-Ignoring my dishes until they start to clean themselves.

5) Places I have lived:

Tacoma, Wa
Lakewood, Wa

Portland, Or

LaCenter, Wa

Moscow, Id

6) Jobs I have had:

– Erika and I worked at Jazzercize, we watched kids in the creepy basement while the mom’s worked out.

-I worked at a batting cages, doing everything and anything from making food, being a barista, to unjamming pitching machines, running the register, making phone calls, etc.

– I taught preschool. (Yikes, I know)

-I worked for our neighbor lady organizing stuff for her roofing business.

-I did new construction cleanup while I was at school in Moscow.

-I work now for a surgeon’s office, I was in medical records, but now am at the front desk.

7) Things people don’t know about me (quirky things about me):

There aren’t a lot of things that are quirky about me that people don’t know, but I will give it a whirl.

-I have two 16 inch metal rods in my back, that’s kind of weird, I guess.

-I have broken 4 of my toes. I am the most accident prone person most people have ever met.

-I have braces and I am almost 22.

-Some people call me “Grali” it is a combination of the words grandma and Ali. They call me that because basically I am an old lady who goes to bed at 9 pm and enjoys old lady hobbies, such as crocheting and knitting. (Is anyone interested in doing a crochet club? I’d love to do it if there are enough people interested. Let me know.)

8)Things that make my life super-fabulous right now:

– My Callie comes home in a month! (Right in time for my birthday)

– I am excited about new prospects for school next year.

– Erika and Adam move home very, very soon.

– Lots and lots of weddings this summer!

Well, I am not going to tag anyone in particular, so if you feel like you want to fill it out, go for it!

It’s a cold and it’s a broken hallelujah

Ok. So it’s not that I’ve been busy. I won’t lie. It’s because I have been lazy. Still working on the birthday blanket (we’re a little past half way!) but I don’t have any pictures. My dear mother came over last night to help me recover my chairs.

So this is them before.

Please don’t pay attention to the dirty floors below. I blame Heidi!

Sorry for my long absence, but I can’t promise it won’t happen again.

So sorry we’ve been absent

Sorry for not posting any interesting craft related stuff recently. I’ve started another project making a blanket for a friend whose birthday was a few weeks ago (happy belated…) but it’s not quite in a good stage yet, so I will post pictures of it later once it gets a little bigger and more interesting.

This however, was my first adventure in cable knitting. It’s a nice pretty blue scarf that I was able to enjoy all winter long. I finished this over the fall and despite a few weird kinks it turned out pretty nice. The first picture you can see the details.

The top is more like the real color, it’s actually kind of a mix between the two. More of a baby blue. Flash kills me everytime.
