Buttony-Finished.

I finished the Buttony Sweater this evening! I love it. I haven’t blocked it yet, obviously, but wanted to show you all.

I’m pretty much in love with it. And planning on wearing it to work tomorrow.

Not the most flattering view, but it was taken from the couch.

But I am up pasty my bedtime, so goodnight.

Crazy Awesome Weekend.

So this weekend we had my friends Charissa and Autumn, as well as my brother Aaron and his girlfriend Cynthia out to visit, because we were having a show. We had a lot of fun, and it was a very, very busy weekend. We planned a pre-show BBQ, because we were having our concert in a barn, so it seemed appropriate. But we got the grill out there and it was out of propane. Oops. So we had people run back into town, but even so, the burgers took forever to cook and we ended up starting the show about an hour late, but once it got going we had an awesome time.

There was plenty of time to socialize while waiting for the burgers to cook.

And Paul’s mother, Diane, was nice enough to be one of our opening acts. She is absolutely an incredible musician! (No wonder Paul is so musically gifted, because his dad can rock out, too!)

We played in this amazing barn out in the rolling hills of the Palouse. It was gorgeous out there, although it did get a little chilly.

Pretty cool, huh?  And yes, Paul was playing accordion on that song!

Check out our myspace page to hear some of the music.

P.S. A big shout-out to Isaiah Eyre for all of the amazing photography!

Buttony Update

Since I’ve been home sick, I’ve gotten alot done on my Buttony Sweater while lying on the couch coughing and feeling pretty gross. When I was gone last weekend to Tacoma Paul wasn’t feeling well, and thought it was allergies, but when I got home and got the same thing 2 days later, well, we’re pretty sure it’s not allergies! But I digress, the Buttony:

I’ve almost completed the bodice. About 4-5 more inches to go until I end the bottom. And then just adding sleeves (which to me is the worst part, I don’t know why)

But I DO love how the raglan style does sleeves. It looks like I sewed it together, but it’s all ONE piece, which is great because seaming is pretty much the lamest thing ever. Ever.

Ew. That picture makes it look gross and acrylic. It’s not, people. It’s made out of my fav Eco wool.

By the time I finish it I probably won’t have the weather to wear it until next fall, however, as we’re still getting snow flurries and freezing nights, I think I might get a chance if I finish it up soon!

A quick link for you, Charissa posted a super cute DIY for a fun, bold necklace. I am definitly going to try it out, so you should, too!

My loot

Erika let me pick out my birthday present while we were at Target (Always gotta make a Target run while you’re in a city that’s got one!) And, while there wasn’t much Liberty of London stuff around, (I was hoping to score some more stuff for the house, but didn’t find much) I found this jewel. I love it.

It’s the perfect size to hold our coffee! (And it has an airtight seal!)

Cute no?

And Hilary got me the cutest bread pan. It’s YELLOW!

I love yellow. And I love bread.

Promises, promises

I promise to update soon about my trip, and about everything else going on, but now it’s time for Band Practice (we’ve got the big show coming up! so excited)

But for now:

I made a Monkey

A monkey for a friend, but she doesn’t know it yet, so I can’t reveal her identity.

Cute, no?

I wasn’t so sure about the nose… it looked a little weird, but once it was all done I think it turned out ok.

Ezra didn’t approve, though.

He just wanted to spread yogurt on him.

Album Release Party

We’re having our CD release MAY 8TH here in Moscow, so you locals should come, you out-of-towners, you should come, too! Let me know if you want details for location! (The Hill’s farm!)

My Swift

Want to see the swift in action? I had some inquiries as to how it actually worked… so here it is!

Yarn comes like so:

Or possibly like this:

Gently untwist it into a large circle:

Attach your swift to a stable surface (I used a heavy book shelf, so it wouldn’t budge)

Expand your swift, but not all the way:

Lift your yarn and put it around the swift, making sure not to get it hooked on the edges. No tangles!

Find your end:

Start making a ball:

Keep rolling, and voila! You’ve got yourself a ball of yarn!

And that’s my swift!

Oops.

So, remember like, two days ago when I was all excited because I ordered a swift?

My bad. My bad. My bad.

I need to remember things like “Don’t buy things that you’ve been telling your husband you want for the past 6 months, especially 2 1/2 weeks before your birthday”- ever heard of that one? Yikes. Luckily, I was able to cancel my order before it shipped, so I wasn’t even charged, or had to go through an annoying return process!

Paul got me an amazing GREEN swift! It’s so cute. It’s, um… retro? (Old, but not an antique, still pretty sturdy.)  He found it at The Storm Cellar, and saw me oogling it when we were there a few weeks ago. I’ll post pictures soon. He let me have it early because I am working on a sweater (made from Cascade Eco, which needed to be balled), so I am a happy camper!

That and I get to meet Louella (newborn daughter of one of my closest Moscow friends) this evening, and I am so excited to give her the Ripple Blanket!

Ok. Off to work!
