Knitted Nativity

I had someone request a knitted nativity set, so here it is.

Mary, Joseph and Jesus.

There’s even a little lamb to go with it.

She just requested these 4 pieces, so there’s no wisemen or shepherds, but I think I might make another set for myself, but with all of the pieces.

Little lamby

Now, a bit about prices. It turns out that these are quite a bit more complicated than I anticipated them being, so if you are interested in the whole set (Which would include Mary, Joseph, Jesus, 3 Wisemen, A shepherd, a sheep and a donkey/horse) It would be $100. I’ve looked at a few other ones people are selling, and they’re all well over the $100 mark. (Examples here and here). If you would still like me to make you one please email me @ lexikaye@gmail.com so I can get started on the orders before the next holiday season, so you can enjoy them all Christmas long next year. Unfortunately due to time constraints and lots of other Christmas orders I won’t be able to make any for this coming Christmas.

More Ice?

We got back to Moscow and the ice and snow had only gotten worse while we were gone. I’m pretty much homebound since my car isn’t exactly snow-worthy.

Today I walked downtown to go to run a few errands, ended up slipping and falling flat on my back, spilling my coffee as I did so. Lovely, really. To my amazement no one even saw me fall, so at least it wasn’t horribly embarrassing.

So that icicle above is about 14 feet long. It’s a really, really long icicle. I am sort of afraid it’s going to fall and kill someone. (I am staying far away from that one)

And the forecast is predicting snow all week. (Do you like my awesome hat? I stole it from my husband!)

Tonight (after unpacking… maybe) I will begin the Christmas decorations! I am so excited about Christmas decorations… I wanted to put them up before we left for Texas, but that was vetoed.

So, cheers to being homebound. I’ve got some more knitting to do anyway…..

Ice!

So while we were in Texas (we just got home this evening, hooray!) Paul’s dad took us to see the Ice! Exhibit at the Gaylord Texan (A huge resort near Dallas). Guys, let me just say, this was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen!

The theme was “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and these were all made out of blocks of colored ice.

And they are really, really big. Also, you get to wear these big, blue, extremely warm parkas!

Oh, and did I mention that it was only 9 degrees in there? Brr!

My cute husband in an ice tunnel.

But wait, next was my very, very, very favorite part.

A way-bigger-than-lifesize nativity scene. It was so beautiful!

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving from Knittybutton!

I’ll definitely be working on some more Christmas knitting, and hopefully eating lots of stuffing.

Hope you all have a wonderful holiday and those of you in Washington and Idaho please stay warm!!

It’s time.

Yes, it’s time to put away my fall decorations, I suppose. Winter hit last night, and it hit hard.

I’m not going to lie, it makes me a little nervous since we need to drive to Spokane tonight to catch a plane early tomorrow morning.

But, we’ve got 4 wheel drive, and hopefully the roads will be plowed and there won’t be too much traffic.

But I do love the snow, it’s so pretty and makes the whole town of Moscow all glittery and pretty.

So, as you know, we’re going to Texas tomorrow morning for Pablo’s sisters wedding, so posting might be a little light this week, as I am planning on giving my poor little wrists a bit of a break from knitting, but I’ve got a few posts lined up to automatically post throughout the week, so it won’t be too quiet ’round here.

So.. I did it.

I actually quit my job. There was much fear and trembling before walking into my bosses office, but I did it! And I feel SO good. I gave 4 weeks notice, because I am nice like that, so I’ve still got a month to go. I am planning on taking the holidays off (Thanksgiving in Texas, P’s sister’s wedding the week of Thanksgiving, Christmas in Tacoma, Charissa’s wedding in January) so I will be a busy little bee anyway. Plus with all of the Christmas orders I’ve got it should keep me busy!
