Christmas Cactus

Our Christmas cactus is almost blooming! I am so excited. I was disappointed last winter when it didn’t bloom like we were told it would.

I don’t know how long it’ll be til it opens up, but I hoping that the blossom sticks around for a while. My table is very green, so that pop of hot pink is very eyecatching!

Weekending

So, my sisters Erika and Heidi, my mom, Ezra and my brothers girlfriend Cynthia got to come hang out this weekend. And it was awesome. It was a less-than-24 hour trip, but I enjoyed it so much!

My nephew is a lot of fun to hang out with.

We went to the Farmers market, The Storm Cellar, and made pizza.

I got two HUGE bunches of basil! They were only $3.oo a bunch, so I got all they had, planning on making some killer pesto tomorrow.

And I had to move all of my succulents inside since it is getting really cold out at night here. But as of right now I have nowhere to put them, so they, too, are on the kitchen table.

It’s getting a bit crowded in there.

And, just because I can, here is a parting shot of my nephew eating the pizza we made for lunner (lunch/dinner).

Indoor Plants

Since the weather is rapidly getting colder, I am wondering what I am going to do with all my succulents.

They can’t really fend for themselves under 3 feet of snow this winter. So I was thinking about some kind of table near my window, so they can still get a little bit of light. I am loving the pictures below… I might need to go thrifting sometime soon to get a hold of a cool table.

Weekend Visits

My friend Autumn and her husband got to come visit us for a (short) trip out here this weekend, and while they were here we did a little birthday celebration.

Everyone loves a little funfetti.

The Birthday Girl!

It was a very fun visit, but I am sad they had to leave so soon. But we did get a pretty good game of Bocce Ball in, before they left.

The Hair.

I’ve always been known for my hair. It’s just one of those things, pretty much my whole life I’ve been that girl with the crazy long hair. And that’s been fine with me, up til recently. I still look 17. Even though the braces came off, it didn’t help that I wore my hair in pigtail braids to work.

(Really ridiculous hair)

So, I marched in and asked for a “mature” haircut.

Tada!

(Mature haircut)

So, those of you who know me will know that this is kind of a big deal for me to have such short hair!

So, do I look older?

Icky thumb

I am getting ready to say goodbye to my fingernail… it’s going to fall off pretty soon.

It doesn’t hurt much anymore, but I am afraid that once the fingernail falls off it might be really tender! I am kind of a wimp, so I am trying to keep it on as long as possible.  I’m afraid to play my guitar or do too much with my hand for fear I will accidentally hit it and knock it off.

A new sweater and other things

I started this new sweater on Thursday. I am excited about it, you’ll know why when I’m done.

It’s purple and cream. I love purple and cream!

Also, I got a jade plant to go into my succulent garden on the front stoop.

I haven’t potted it yet, but I’ll get around to it one of these days. But I can’t spend any more time outside right now because of this:

No, it’s not cloudy. Nope, it’s not foggy. It’s smoke and dust. It’s disgusting. And it makes it extremely hard to breath for me.

Anyway, we’re trying to keep indoors and keep the air clean inside our humble abode.

Giveaway!

So, this isn’t my Giveaway, but my cousin Effie Grace’s. Just getting the word out there, she’s an amazing photographer, and she’s giving away a PHOTO SHOOT! For reals! And she is good!

She’ll do portraits, kids, weddings, senior pictures, whatever you want!

She’s located in the Tacoma/Seattle area, so sorry for those of you around Moscow! But you never know, she might want to come visit her cousin….?

Anyhow, enter HERE for your chance at a great opportunity to have your picture taken with Effie!

Meet Marisol

I made another little animal. This is Marisol.

She’s got funny little legs.

But she and the little lamb get along great.

But once I saw them together I realized that I really didn’t like the button eyes on the lamb, so I pulled them off and did embroidery eyes instead.

I think he looks a lot better that way.

WIP’s

Working on the little lamb. I’ve got his legs and body done, now he just needs a head and some arms.

Baby blanket for a friend, about 1/4 done. The fabulous and fun rippley pattern that I made Ezra’s in.

And the sweater vest! I’ve got mine nearly done. The back half is almost done blocking and then I just need to sew up the sides. I’m stoked to wear it.

Ok, I know it’s weird. The front half is gray and red striped, and the back is solid red? Weird. Yes. When I went to the store, they were out of the gray, so I just bought the red instead. And figured it would just be… unique? I don’t now. I am a little scared to try it on. I should have used a pattern!

I think I’ll start piecing it together this evening. Or, maybe I’ll just go to bed early. I did work late, and I’m kind of tired.

But, one more thing before I go! I made some Artisan Bread this weekend, and I decided to shake up the recipe a bit and added olive oil and roasted red peppers. And, let me tell you, it was amazing. We’ve been eating lots of it. So, so, so good.
