I made some flowered beanies for some cute little twins birthday present- Happy Birthday Aubree and Raylee!

Sam is a ham.
Sam is such a ham these days.
Dragon! Rawr!
I made a Dragon for my sweet cousin Logan.
I really like this guy. He’s awfully fun. If I get some spare time (hah!) I might try to make one for Sam. But for now I’ve got to finish up the last few of my custom orders. I’ll feel much better once those are behind me, I hate making people wait for them for too long. I’ve got a sweater to finish up, hopefully this weekend and that will be IT for my custom orders!
Work is going well so far. Sam is loving hanging out with his buddy Caden all day. He’s napping well there and getting lots of play time. Sam is a very social kid, so being around other people all day is great for him. He’s happy as a clam and I’m not constantly fretting about how he’s doing. He loves their two dogs, too! I gotta admit, I was pretty anxious about leaving him all day, but he seems to be doing great and putting all my fears to rest.
Now back to knitting!
My hair, my boys and some slippers, oh and one more thing….
So I decided to dye my hair red for Christmas. It took three tries to get it actually red, apparently my hair is stubborn or something.
Also, Paul let me sleep in this morning (UNTIL 9AM! Woo!) And when I woke up I came out into the living room to this.
Is that not the cutest thing you’ve ever seen in your life? I’m pretty sure it’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. I like these boys.
Also, Sam is pretty darn good at roadtripping (We just got back from Tacoma on Saturday night)
I love how he crosses his legs in his carseat. I am biased, I know, but come on, how cute is he? He also got an awesome table from Grandpa and Grandma and Aunt Carrie for Christmas and it’s pretty much his favorite thing.
He likes to push it up against the piano and play some tunes for us. Usually while wiggling his booty in the air.
And some Christmas knits, as promised! I made felted slippers for all of Paul’s sisters!
And, drumroll, please….. I’ve got a job! A full time one, at that, starting on Monday morning, so I’m going to have to take a break from custom knitting, at least until I get my footing with my new job. I’m sad, but I know that it’ll be a big relief for me to not have to worry about knitting deadlines while working full time and trying to be a good mother and wife. I’ll be sure to let you know once I am ready to take on more knitting projects for other people, but for now I think I’m just going to have to cut cold-turkey! I’ll still be knitting for myself and for Sam, so Knittybutton will (hopefully) still stay somewhat relevant!
I’m really excited about this new step in our lives and hoping it will be good for everyone and that the transition won’t be too hard on Sam. He hasn’t been with babysitters much, so this will be a bit of a new thing for Sam. But he is pretty good at adapting, so I’m sure he’ll be great getting to hang out with his buddy all day. But not gonna lie, I’m a bit nervous! I haven’t worked a ‘real job’ since I was pregnant with Sam, so this could be interesting, but I’ll be glad to have insurance again after a long time without it!
And I’m sure this will make my New Years Resolutions a bit harder (be better about meal planning and cutting out processed foods). Although, come to think of it, maybe not sitting around the house all day will make my constant snacking habit easier to kick!
Any New Year Resolutions on your end?
Felted Slippers!
I made a pair of felted slippers for my “Secret Santa” this year!
They start out huge!
But after a quick wash they felt down pretty fast!
Also, Sam got his first big “boo-boo” today. He fell down in the kitchen and bonked his head on a cabinet.
He is doing fine now, but poor buddy bonked it so hard! We’ve got a show tonight at Bucer’s (7:30-10:30 TONIGHT!!!) then we’re leaving for Tacoma hopefully first thing in the morning! Merry Christmas!
School Colors
For Paul’s dad and his step-mom Gloria I decided to make them school color hats (Since he works at U of I and she works at WSU!)
Gold and silver, for the Vandals!
And Crimson and Grey for the Cougars!

I tried really hard to make the stripes “random”, but it was harder than I thought. I kept feeling like they were not balanced right. So my “random” striping turned into very methodical counting and some math. But I really like the way they turned out, so it was worth it. And now I can get the “random” look of striping, without it actually being random. (I’m too much of a control freak for that.)
More Christmas knits to come!
Cabled Christmas
A family set of commissioned stockings! I actually made the middle one last year, and she asked me to make the cabled ones for the mama and the papa of the family. Pictures did not turn out as well as I had hoped, but they’ve already been delivered, so oh well, live and learn and buy a new camera lens, right? (Mine is currently broken and is taking very fuzzy pictures. Boo!)
The stocking on the right is actually a deep forest green. The color isn’t showing up quite right, but it’s really a lovely yarn!
I’ve got lots of Christmas present knits to show you guys- they’re just not given to their respective recipients yet, so stay tuned.
PS Did you notice it’s snowing on the blog????
Little Turtle
It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like….
Christmas! My favorite holiday, hands down.
Sam was so confused about having a tree inside. He kept brushing by it with just the tip of his finger.
I haven’t put the wrapped presents under the tree, because I know Sam will try to unwrap them (So helpful, that one!) for me, so we’re just leaving them in our bedroom closet for now. He’s been really good about not touching the tree, other than grazing it with his finger tip occasionally. We made it a “no-touch” since we were afraid he would pull it down onto himself (he’s a climber!), and one day as I was in the bathroom I came out to hear him “clapping” with a ball ornament in each hand, as soon as he saw me he happily clapped really hard, and they both fell apart in his hands. He was so upset, he turned around, put the shattered balls back on the tree (in lots of tiny pieces) turned back to me and said “All done, mama” and hung his head and started to cry! It was so sad, he was so disappointed that he had broken the ornaments, but since then he hasn’t touched the tree. I felt bad that he learned such a sad lesson, but glad that he remembers that it’s a ‘no touch’.
Also, local people- The Apple Brigade is doing a show on Friday at One World Cafe downtown. We’ve put up a few demo’s here, if you’d like to check them out. And as always, you can ‘like’ The Apple Brigade on Facebook to make sure you stay informed of everything new!
Little Crafting
I don’t often do crafting that’s not knitting or crochet, but occasionally I break out the glue gun and feel like getting burned.
So I made a few little trees. The two smaller ones are wrapped in yarn and the bigger one was wrapped in some lace trimmings.
I’m not thrilled with the top of the bigger one. I didn’t do a good job of gluing the cardboard together so it ended up being gappy at the top, so I stuck a pompom on top of it, but it looks a little silly. Any suggestions? I think I’ll make some more later on in the week. Today I’m nursing a cold and trying to keep my house in somewhat of an order since my toddler is finding mama on the couch to be the perfect opportunity to destroy the house and dump every bucket of toys that he has.
I am spacing out majorly today, I tried to make myself some little coffee treat, but after cleaning my espresso maker I didn’t reattach the pressure valve right and I came back into the kitchen to coffee spraying everywhere.
Well, the ceiling needed a good scrubbing anyway, I suppose.
