Samuel’s Baptism

While we were in Tacoma for Christmas Samuel got baptized! We had it done at my home church, by Pastor Rayburn on Christmas Morning, and it was lovely.

He was baptized with water from the Jordan River!

And if any of you are curious about Sam’s baptismal gown, that was ALSO made by my mom! She’s so crafty (I wonder where I get it, right?) Here’s a close up:

She knows what I like, that woman!

I need to get Sam to make his pouty face so we can get him in his baptismal gown next to my picture of me in my baptismal gown.

Samuel’s Blanket!

My mom used to make these name blankets for kids that were born in our extended family. She hasn’t made them in a while, but I requested that one of Sam’s Christmas presents to be his very own name blankie, because I love them so much.

My mom picked the perfect colors of green that match his crib bedding!

Isn’t it beautiful? I really love it.

Chocolate Guinness Espresso Cake

I made a cake. And it was delicious.

It was my first time making a ganache frosting and it turned out pretty well, in my very humble opinion.

I made it for a church dinner that we attended last Friday night. The grandparents watched Sam so we could have some grownup time, and it was nice to get a little bit dressed up and eat dinner without bouncing a baby on my knee! But Sam did get to help make the cake, too, so he didn’t feel too left out.

Pebbles Vest

Here is Sam wearing his Pebble Vest!

It is just a smidge big for him right now, but it’s stretchy, so it should fit for a while!

Ah, and check out the awesome oval wooden buttons all down the side!

This face just cracks me up.

And he is teething right now, so everything (even his shirts) go straight into his mouth and get chewed on. We are both usually a little damp from all of the drool and spitup. But hey, there are worse things than being drooled on by a cute little munchkin baby.

Month 4

A few days late, but here are Sam’s monthly photos! Here’s a link to Month 1, and Month 2, and Month 3, in case you missed them! And  here is a link to a page that I’ll be updating every month with all of the pictures together, so you can see them side by side!

With Crocheted Pillow:

I can’t believe Sam is already 4 months old! So crazy to think that he is 1/3 of a year old. It’s been challenging, but he seems to be getting better and less colicky. He did have really bad croup this week, but we went to the doctor and got on some steroid medication. We were really relieved that he’s gotten so much better because they thought he was in the beginning stages of pneumonia, which in a 4 month old baby is really scary! But he is feeling a lot better now, although we are teething on top of all of that! He’s cutting a tooth and drooling a LOT, lots of chewing on his hands and sticking everything in sight right into his mouth!

Speaking of which… he’s up from his nap, so I’m off to rescue him from the swing!

Pompom Hat #2

Another pompom hat order!

This one isn’t quite so girly.

I may need to make Sam his own pompom hat, because I think he looks awfully cute in it!

And tomorrow I will be back to show you Samuel’s Monthly Photos! (I can’t believe it’s already time for that! He’s been 4 months for a few days now!)

More Headbands!

These headbands are proving to be a popular seller recently, too!

Which is good because they are so quick to knit up.

Nothing quite as classy as mirror pictures, right?

Someone also wanted one in yellow- but no flower. She is going to do some bead work on it.

I hope she sends me a picture of what she is doing with it, because I am curious!

Pompom Hat!

I’ve gotten 3 orders for these pompom hats recently, and Sam gets to do the honors of modeling them for me! It’s a bit big (It’s 6-12 month size, and Sam isn’t quite 4 months yet)

He’s cute, even if these hats make him look a little girly!

I love this picture! He’s like “MAMA! Why would you put this pink hat on me?! Are you kidding me?”

I also love the fact that Sam is really into his toys now. He didn’t have any interest in them until we were in Tacoma over Christmas and all the sudden he started grabbing at stuff and being interested in the toys in front of him. Mostly he just wanted to stick them in his mouth, but hey, it keeps him entertained while mama takes silly photo shoots of him, right?

Gray Hat and Happy New Year

Hello Knittybutton Readers! Sorry for taking such a long break for Christmas.. I didn’t really mean to be away for a whole week, but I ended up just having such a great time with my family, and then when we got back to Idaho I just wanted to spend the rest of the break enjoying Sam and hanging out with Paul. BUT I did get quite a bit of knitting done. Amazing what you can get done when you’re not taking the time to blog!

Anyhow, I made my brothers girlfriend, Krysta this hat for Christmas!

I guess I have a smaller head than most, because it was a bit too snug on her. And then my Sister in Law Cynthia told me the hat I made for her last Christmas was too small for her, too. Oops.

It turned out pretty well, considering that I whipped it up the day before Christmas!

I’ll be back tomorrow with more knits! Thanks for being so patient with me!
