Harvest Party 2008

Last night we had our church’s harvest party. Many kudos to Kjerste and Derek for heading up booths and stuff. There were lots of fun games, lots of little kids in red. As Little Red Riding hood, I wasn’t very original, but that’s ok, there were lots of adorable lady bugs and check out Kaylynn as a football (the most adorable thing). My mom, Heather, Mrs. Allison and I did face paintings, and I did a ridiculous number of “Elmo’s”, but I think that was mostly because of Heidi’s influence. Check her out:

Like that’s not creepy!

My mom is stylin’.

Erika worked a ridiculous amount on this, but it looked amazing!

Little Red Riding Hood (one of the many that showed up)

Heidi is frighteningly Elmo like

The amazing spandex’d couple, Aaron and Jess!

Adam was the Kool-Aid man, Oh Yeah!

Effie and Hilary

Since I was face painting I didn’t get too many pictures of other people, but there was a talent show and everything. We had everything from opera to standup comedy. From Celtic Dancing to jazz singers. Oh, and in case you didn’t gather from the pictures above, the theme was “Red”.

I like to carve

Some pumpkins I’ve carved in the last few years:

Good Ol’ Yoda (2008)

Where The Wild Things Are (2007)

An Owl with a mouse? (2006)

Owl and Charissa’s Celtic Cross (2005)

Turtle (2008 yeah I did two pumpkins this year…)

More Hats.

So you guys know that once I learn how to make something I just make like a million of them until I have it perfected? (How much easier would life be if I just figured out how to read a pattern?!) So, I think I finally got it right with Wesley’s first birthday present! Here is his awesome little hat. So I actually made two, one for Autumn’s happiest 22nd birthday and one for Wesley. Here they are:

Baby Hat

So I got home from work on Thursday and hat the itching to make a baby hat for a certain young lady who’s having a baby girl here in the near future.

A funny little hat. I think I need to learn how to read a pattern, though, I really have no idea how. It might make hats a little less wonky, but after I added the earflaps and the ball on top it seemed to calm down a bit.

How I wish you could see the potential, the potential of you and me

So I haven’t been neglecting my crafts, but none are finished enough to really show. One of these days I will have so many projects to show, but right now I am kind of in the middle of alot of different crafties. Mostly of the crochet and knit variety. However, I’ve had just about the best time thrifting (is that a verb?) I’ve gotten some real finds lately, I’m on a roll! Here are some pictures.

An adorable apron I found, which I’m absolutely in love with.

I have found alot of dishes recently.

Um, hello, 25 cents for the whole lot of them? Ok!

These bowls are my favorite.

Except for maybe these bowls might be my favorite.

I have a pretty impressive collection of black and white dishes, mostly found for my table at the women’s Christmas Brunch.

And these little gems… small purple dessert plates!

May I say that mustard is my new favorite color, and mustard at clearance thrift store prices is much better.

So there’s an update!

It’s growing!

Sorry for long absences! I’ve been crafting, I promise. The crocheted Trinity Blanket is growing! I stupidly forgot which brand of yarn I bought and I’m almost out of the dark blue border, so I have to go find some more and hope it’s the same brand. Oops. Also, a picture of the earrings that I made on the Wild West Women’s Rodeo Roundup this weekend. (I also got some sun. Yay)

(I kind of think that the pink ones look like gum, but maybe that’s just me.)

I now have seven of the circles

A close up of the Trinity blanket now that the triangles are attached to the circles and the circles are attached together.

Seven down, 14 to go!

We took a trip to Point Defiance

Charissa, Courtney and I went down to Point Defiance and had a little photo shoot with my lovely camera.

So sorry we’ve been absent

Sorry for not posting any interesting craft related stuff recently. I’ve started another project making a blanket for a friend whose birthday was a few weeks ago (happy belated…) but it’s not quite in a good stage yet, so I will post pictures of it later once it gets a little bigger and more interesting.

This however, was my first adventure in cable knitting. It’s a nice pretty blue scarf that I was able to enjoy all winter long. I finished this over the fall and despite a few weird kinks it turned out pretty nice. The first picture you can see the details.

The top is more like the real color, it’s actually kind of a mix between the two. More of a baby blue. Flash kills me everytime.

Sometimes the unexplainable can define you

I have some new house guests.

I know that this doesn’t have anything to do with crafting, but they’re awfully fun to wake up to in the morning. They make very pretty music. It’s nice to have some other noises in the house besides my own besides the garage door in the morning.
