Plum

I got this delicious yarn at The Yarn Underground. (I just went in for a pair of needles, and I can’t really ever come out without some scrumptious yarn..)

It’s hand dyed, right here in Moscow! Absolutely gorgeous plum color. I do like to support the locals when I can! And hey, if buying this yummy yarn supports local businesses, well, I guess I’ll make the great sacrifice and buy it.

I was thinking of making something for my sweet little niece, Josetta, but I don’t quite know what to make. Anyone have any great (preferably free) patterns for Sport Weight yarn? Something a little girly?

Please share in the comment section if you’ve got any pattern ideas for me!

Sock Monkey, with a monkey model.

So, I didn’t get any great shots, because my little monkey man was too busy jumping on the couch, like a true little monkey. But this is a 6-9 month sock monkey costume, custom ordered for Halloween for some lucky little kid!

If you’d like to order one, please let me know (lexikaye@gmail.com) ASAP, there are only a few spots left for me to be able to make them by Halloween!

Gaptastic Cowl

I made the Gaptastic Cowl with Magnum yarn by Cascade. It’s a super-bulky yarn, so this knits up pretty fast!

And just to give you an idea of how big this cowl is:

I knit it for The Yarn Underground to use as a sample in their store. But whew, August was definitely not the best time to knit this cowl. If you decide to make one I would wait until the weather cools down a bit. As I was modeling this I was breaking into a sweat!

On a more serious note, please keep my cousin Jonah in your prayers. On Monday he was diagnosed with Leukemia and can use all the prayers he can get right now.

Family Camp

We went camping this past weekend on Lake Couer d’Alene with our church. We had such a great time!

I even had a chance to get some knitting done! I am still working on it, it’s the Sunlight Shawl for Sad People, made with Plymouth Brand Happy Feet sock yarn. I really like how it’s turning out, and I adore the colors!

And I’ve got 3 sock monkey costumes to crank out before Halloween, so blogging might be a bit light!

Tan Sock Monkey Hat!

A custom order for a tan sock monkey hat with matching booties.

I like it when people request custom orders, because then I get to make things I wouldn’t necessarily think to make, you know, like a tan sock monkey hat! The booties turned out pretty cute, too!

Owl Pillow

I made an owl pillow for my niece’s birthday.

It looks small, but it’s made with extra bulky yarn, so it’s about a foot tall.

Complete with wings.

I also made her a pink and green headband!

And now I am going to get finished up with packing for our camping trip! (Our church family camp is this weekend!) And it will be Sam’s first camping trip, I’m a little nervous as to how he’ll do sleeping in the tent, but I think I tend to worry a lot about things that tend to not be a bit deal anyway, so I am trying to relax and try to look forward to enjoying our weekend!

Wool Longies

I have started doing some trades with people in exchange for knitted goods. Mostly it’s with people that can sew awesome things, because that is an area where I am sorely lacking. These knitted wool longies were in exchange for three homemade cloth diapers (That are AWESOME, by the way, thank you Danielle!) and I love these longies a lot. Even if I accidentally made them look like Seahawks longies.

I tried to get Sam to model them for me…haha. That did not end up being so easy. Now that he is mobile..oh my heavens, it is impossible to get a clear shot of him!

I did eventually get him distracted enough with playing with mama’s “no-touch” stuff. (Aka my knitting stuff) and that got him to sit still for long enough to take a few shots. They didn’t turn out great, but oh well.

I think I may need a pair or two of these for Sam this winter! I think they are so cute. Although I probably won’t do stripes…every time I do stripes I start kicking myself because I forget about the trillions of ends to weave in! Why do I always forget that little detail??

Pixie Hat for Sam

This is one of my new favorite patterns! I am definitely going to be making this one again.

I made Sam a pixie hat (maybe we can come up with a more masculine name?) Followedthis pattern for Stella’s Pixie Hat, made with Plymouth Brand “Happy Feet” sock yarn. Made the smallest size, on size 3 needles, should fit him through this winter. I am in love with this yarn, it is sooo scrumptious. I love the subtle color flecks in the yarn and it’s so squishy and nice! And the way this pattern is knit is really fun. You knit it flat and then kitchener stitch the back together then add the button band!

Baby Giraffe

A giraffe hat for a little newborn!

No little newborn to model it on, but I think it turned out rather fun! I used the intarsia method for the spots.

And in case you were wondering what the inside of an intarsia knit hat is like….

And now I am off to run Saturday errands and hang out with my two favorite boys!

Booties

A pair of booties for baby Logan (my cousins baby!)

Josetta was modeling them so nicely for me. She crossed her legs and was being so cute and demure!

I really like the way they turned out!
