Elmo, Shark, Goldfish

I got a fun combo order for an Elmo doll, a hammerhead shark and a goldfish! I had a lot of fun coming up with an Elmo pattern!

DSC_6564I couldn’t find any really fuzzy bright red yarn that would work for Elmo, so I was hoping that the face would be “Elmo” enough to pass, as soon as Sam saw it he yelled out “It’s Elnemo!” (He pronounces it a little funny, hah!) so I think it works. What do you think?

Twins!

My cousin Kjerste had twins a few weeks ago and I got to meet them when I visited my family 2 weeks ago. It was so great to be able to meet these beautiful little girls (Katja and Karena!) And they got some matching purple hats.

Are the girls beautiful? All wrapped up in hand knit blankets, too!

I’ve got several more projects to show you, as well. I’m just WAY behind on blogging due to the “Christmas rush”! Speaking of which, if you have any Christmas knits you’ve been wanting to order, make sure you do it soon, before I run out of time!

Pink Sock Monkey

I got the opportunity to use a sweet little Ellie model for my pink sock monkey. Isn’t she just the cutest thing you’ve ever seen?

She was so smiley and obliging, except when we tried to get the costume on her, but once she realized how awesome she looked, she couldn’t help but smile.

Many thanks to her sweet mama, Rachel, for lending her out for a photo-shoot in the park on a chilly fall day.

I’m down to the 2nd to last sock monkey before Halloween, almost done with it, then just ONE MORE TO DO! Whew.

Jaiden’s Birthday Sweater

I made a WSU colored sweater for my sweet little friend Jaiden for her 2nd birthday.

I completely managed to forget to take pictures of it until I was wrapping it, so the photos are not very good. But it’s just grey and crimson- a fun stripey sweater for the fall.

Also, a fun picture for you- Paul and I went to a fun 20’s themed birthday party and got to get all dressed up! I didn’t manage to get a picture of us together, but here is one of me from the party:

Sorry for the blog absence, I’ve been very, very busy. Working on a few big projects, the biggest of all won’t be complete until April! That’s right, I’m knitting together another baby! We are thrilled for Sam to be a big brother.

Today we took Sam to the county fair. It’s pretty small compared to the fair I am used to going to (Do the Puyallup!) but Sam had a great time seeing the train exhibit (He is obsessed with trains!) and the poultry. He definitely was not a fan of the donkeys, but he did like the goats. It was pretty hot outside, so we didn’t last too long, but glad he got to enjoy a little bit of the fair.

Most of my time these days is knitting a lot of sock monkey costumes for Halloween. I’ve sold quite a few for this Halloween season (Sold out, actually!) Those should take up the next couple of weeks, and then getting started on Christmas orders already!

I’m also making a few changes to the way I do custom orders here at Knittybutton and will exclusively be doing online orders through Etsy. I will still be doing custom listings still, and you can still email me or message me to request custom orders, but instead of mailing checks or invoicing you, I will create a custom listing on Etsy for you to purchase. It will help streamline the whole process.

That said, I am already getting Christmas orders, so if you have something you would like to order, please let me know as soon as possible, so I can make sure to get it done before Christmas.

Cabled Gwen Stacy Slouch

I had been commissioned to make a hat similar to the one Gwen Stacey wears in the newest Spiderman Movie. I absolutely love challenges like these. And I have fun learning new patterns along the way, things I never would have thought to make myself.

It’s got a good amount of slouch to it, but still fits nice and snug around the head, which I find can be a hard balance. If they’re too slouchy they often end up slouching right off the back of my head- but all in all pretty pleased with this hat!

Cougar Hat!

I’ve already shown some Vandal Pride with my pattern for the Baby Vandal Helmet, so I guess it was time to show some WSU Coug pride around here as well. I do love how much school spirit there is in these towns of ours! And working in Pullman this past year I’ve definitely seen a lot of Coug Pride! For my sweet little friend Jaiden for her 2nd birthday she is getting her own Coug Hat!

coughat4This last picture of Sam has me rolling on the floor. I told him to say Cheese! And he took that to mean I was giving him some cheese, and he got really excited about the prospect of getting cheese. I couldn’t very well not give him a cheese stick after that, now could I? Could you say no to that face?

Sam’s McDreamy

I loved Josetta’s sweater so much that I cast on one for Sam almost immediately!

sam5It’s a touch big, but I wanted it to fit all winter, so I wanted it a size larger. This is 18m size (Yeah, I know, he’ll be two in a month!)

sam4He wasn’t thrilled about modeling a wool sweater in August, but oh well, we make sacrifices for the blog.

Don’t forget, if you want to order a Sock Monkey costume let me know ASAP! I’ve already got some orders lined up and I don’t know how many I’ll be able to knock out before October!

Josetta’s Birthday Sweater.

I made this sweater for Josetta’s first birthday. I love, love, LOVED this sock yarn and had to come up with a somewhat simple pattern to show off the beautiful yarn.  I chose “McDreamy“, it seemed fairly simple and straightforward. It is a great pattern, if you are looking for a good raglan sweater. I prefer top-down raglan, but this is bottom-up style, which is fine, just not my favorite. I might try to adapt it into a top-down pattern, since I am pretty sure I’ll need to make this one again (I already made Sam one, actually! Haha)

I give this pattern an A+. Raveled here.

Vandal Babies

A few weeks ago we got the U of Idaho magazine in our mailbox. I flipped it open and saw these two little vandal babies wearing my hats! How exciting is that?
