Starfish

So I was just jumping around Ravelry the other day and saw a lot of cute sea creature patterns, so I decided to make some more sea creatures for Ezra!

I’ve got a lot more patterns in mind, but I am in the middle of a Starfish right now.

He’ll get cuter, and fatter.

Octopus finale

So, here is the best toy I’ve ever made, I think. He’s not as cute as the lamby or whatever, but he’s so much fun. And all these legs!

I really, really like this guy.

He likes to climb on my plants.

I’m sad that I have to give him up.

But I know that Ezra will enjoy him.

(the bottom end. Sorry Bess, there’s no beak!)

Little octo! I’m pretty pleased with him. What do you think?

Peach Cobbler

I love peach cobbler. I love peaches so much. They’re even better when they are amazing, juicy, fresh peaches from the farmers market.

Start with fresh peaches.

Dash 1/4 cup sugar and about a table spoon of cinnamon on top

Mix 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup sugar in a bowl and mix until it’s nice and moist. Sprinkle 1/4 cup granola on the top and another 1/2 tablespoon of cinnamon.

Bake for about 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

YUMMMMM!

Ha!

How to get to Bel Air. This is mostly for Heidi, because she shares my love of watching Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

Octopus

I am halfway through making an octopus, but I haven’t done much other knitting lately, so there’s not a lot to show. My thumb has been a real pain lately, so I haven’t been doing a lot of knitting.

He only has 4 1/2 legs so far.

He sort of looks like a hand right now, which is creepy. But I think once he has his other 3 1/2 legs he will look more like an octopus, also he’ll have a face, too. That’ll help.

Giveaway!

So, this isn’t my Giveaway, but my cousin Effie Grace’s. Just getting the word out there, she’s an amazing photographer, and she’s giving away a PHOTO SHOOT! For reals! And she is good!

She’ll do portraits, kids, weddings, senior pictures, whatever you want!

She’s located in the Tacoma/Seattle area, so sorry for those of you around Moscow! But you never know, she might want to come visit her cousin….?

Anyhow, enter HERE for your chance at a great opportunity to have your picture taken with Effie!

Farmers Market

This morning we went to the farmers market, got some goodies.

I had one of these for lunch. It was sooo good.

Also some BIG beefsteak tomatoes and made a basil, Parmesan, tomato sauce. It’s simmering on the stove right now. Seriously, some of these are the size of my hand. They are large and juicy! And our house smells yummy.

I love Saturdays! We (and by we I mean Paul) got our washer and dryer hooked up today. Awesome. And then we did a celebratory load of laundry! Also got rid of some furniture we didn’t need anymore and finally unpacked the last box! I know we’ve lived here for a few months, but the ‘spare bedroom/craft room/office/homework room’ has been sort of a catch-all room. But no more! I’ll try to post some pictures sometime soon.

Pie Fail.

So, I tried to whip up a pie on short notice last night.

It was delish, but you know when pie crusts just decide they don’t want to be pretty? That’s what this one did. It was the ugliest pie I think I’ve ever made in my life. The top was cracked, split open, lumpy and a little too brown around the edges. At least it tasted good. And plus, the guests never had to see the top. I sliced it in the kitchen and put a scoop of ice cream on top so you couldn’t even tell, so I guess it wasn’t a total fail.

Any other baking fails out there lately? I’d love to hear about them to make me feel a little better!

Red Sweater

I guess I never showed the finished product of the infamous red sweater! So, it’s huge. Like, could almost fit around me! I mean, it’s stretchy, so it wouldn’t look GOOD on me, but I might be able to button it. Anyway, here it is.

It’s sort of sloppy looking.

Well, I haven’t seen it on a kid yet, so it’s hard to tell.

Anyway, it definitely will NOT fit the kid that I made it for(long and lean), so they got something else. So, it’s basically up for grabs. I’d love to see someone get some use out of it, because this thing was a LOT of work and I’d hate to see it just sitting in my craft room.

SO! If you want it, let me know! This is BETTER than a giveaway, because the first person to claim it gets it. I’ll even ship it to you, free of charge. See how nice I am?

Daisy Chain?

So now I’ve got a few of these flowery things… I don’t really know what to do with them. I was thinking about attaching them to a string and making a daisy chain or something to go around my craft station.

Do any of you crafty people have any great ideas? I know that you’ve all got great ideas…. so you should tell me.

Make a really big one and turn it into an afghan? Stick it on a bobby pin and wear it in my hair?

In other news,  I repotted my hens ‘n chicks and our Christmas cactus, and they are thriving in their roomier new homes.

(Hens n’ chicks, or Sempervivum tectorum)

(Christmas cactus or Hatiora gaertneri)
