Purple Stripes

So I started making a hat for someone for Christmas, but the farther I got into the hat the more I just wanted to keep it for myself.

I’ve been really into stripes recently.

And now it’s cold enough to wear hats and scarves and all those fun winter accessories, and they’re so quick and fun to make.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised with how much knitting Sam has allowed me to do. I thought that I’d be constantly holding him, but a lot of the time he’s happy as a clam in his swing and he lets me get things done around the house. What a sweet baby he is. Right now he’s singing to his mobile while swinging away. It’s pretty darn adorable.

But now I’ve got to go make a batch of hash browns for a ladies fellowship brunch which I’m pretty excited about. Happy Tuesday, everyone.

Togglebuttons

Nothing really crafty to show you today, plus I’m typing with one hand (Sam is sleeping in the other) so I’ll keep this brief.

Without further ado, here is my little Togglebuttons.

And now it’s 11:00am, and I haven’t even gotten dressed yet. Ah, the glamorous life of a mother of a newborn! But Sam is dressed and fed, so that is just about as good, right? And now I’ve got to try (one armed) to tackle this messy house.

Sam’s BFF!

So today Sam and I went to hang out with his (and my) BFF’s, Ezra and Autumn.

We went to coffee to visit Autumn’s sister Hannah at Cafe Adamo in Puyallup.

When they were awake they played pretty well together!

They even tried to hold hands.

Ezra was so happy. Sam was just…content.

And wouldn’t you know it, the only time they both smiled they looked in opposite directions… oh well.

I think Ezra was getting hungry… he wanted to eat Sam’s coat.. and then his forehead.

I’m so glad that Sam’s got so many good friends already in his short little life!

Social Baby

We’ve been busy hanging out with grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles, friends. I don’t really have anything to blog about, and shamefully I haven’t even taken a single picture since I got here. Oops. I didn’t even document Sam’s first flight! I’m such a terrible mother. But my dad has taken a few pictures, so I guess I’ll share those with you.

Stripey matching cousins!

Sam wasn’t thrilled with Ezra kissing him…

And we also had some bath-time with grandma!

And today we’re getting to hang out with Sam’s BFF Autumn’s son Ezra Parkinson. And Sam is pretty excited about it. Don’t worry, there’ll be pictures to show for sure.

Puffy Vest

One of our friends gave Sam his very first puffy vest! It’s a bit too big, still, but will fit him perfectly later on this winter. But I just couldn’t wait to try it on him and show you guys how stinkin’ adorable it is.

And that’s a yawn, not a scream, in case you were wondering. But just wait. It gets even more adorable.

Oh we were getting lots of laughs today!

Some MAJOR baby giggles going on over here.

And then I started laughing so hard at him that we both just kept giggling.

And then we stopped. And we wanted to eat.

And that’s the end of the story.

Stripes!

I love stripes. I love knitting stripes. They’re so much more fun than solid colors, right? I am making this hat for an upcoming baby shower.

It’s for a cute little boy named Thaddeus, who has a great adoption story and we’re so happy for his parents!

Also, I’m in Tacoma all week visiting my family so they can meet Sam, so posting may be light! I’ll try to pop in and give you guys some good pictures!

Stuffed Peppers

I made some stuffed peppers for dinner one evening this week. And oh my word, they turned out so awesome.

Aren’t these peppers beautiful? I just love our Farmer’s Market. I am so sad that they are closing down for the winter in just a few short weeks.

I stuffed them with zucchini from my mother-in-laws garden, heirloom tomatoes and organic onions from the Farmer’s Market, ground beef, quinoa and cheese. Yum yum yum.

Baby Sophisticate

I present to you, the Baby Sophisticate, as modeled by Sam (even though it’s not for him).

He’s blowing kisses!

Finally getting some good smiles on camera!

He’s always staring right into the bright lights.

I’m surprised he sat long enough for me to get a few good pictures of him! He’s always so wiggly.

Ahhh, big yawn. Happy Thursday, everyone.

Lil Sleeper

Sam has decided that his preferred sleeping position is on my chest, sitting upright. He doesn’t really like to be held like a baby, (like a cradle hold) he wants his head up!

I don’t mind, really, because I like snuggling this little baby. Here’s what he looks like from my viewpoint.

And plus, it’s been super chilly around here the last few days, so having a little babe on your chest makes you nice and toasty! Plus, I’ve been having some really bad sciatic pain, so I haven’t wanted to do much other than sit on the couch anyway. (I have a ridiculous limp right now, it looks so stupid) I saw the doctor today and he thinks it was injured during childbirth (yikes) and then further aggravated by carrying around a baby in his carseat… Unfortunately my doctor can’t get me in for an adjustment until after my trip to see my family (I leave on Saturday!) so I am kind of bummed about that, and just hoping that it gets better soon!

Heathered Blue Sweater

So. I’ve actually got something crafty to show you today.

It’s going to be a sweater for one of our friends precious daughters. It’s only like 6 months late… but hey, babies don’t need sweaters so much in the summertime, so I guess it’s right on time.

It’s knit in Cascade 220 Heathers Wool. And I love it. It’s got such a nice variegated color, with soft purple undertones. It’s really lovely stuff.

I am just using a really watered down version of this sweater pattern. And when I say watered down, I really mean it. I’m really just doing one cable up the side and around the hood. Jury is still out on what we are going to do for the back, but it’ll be simple. This yarn is so pretty that I am just going to let it speak for itself.
