Time for Samuel’s monthly pictures!
Here’s a link to Month 1, and Month 2, Month 3, Month 4, Month 5, and Month 6 in case you missed them! And here is a link to a page that I’ll be updating every month with all of the pictures together, so you can see them side by side!
I feel like all 3 of these pictures accurately represent Sam’s personality this month…

This has been a fun month for Sam. He’s able to scooch around on the floor and he is much happier being mobile! He is getting into EVERYTHING and loving it. Nothing in the house is safe anymore! He’s getting harder to take pictures of because he never, ever stops moving! He’s our little Hammy-Sam!

So, a few weeks back I found this really cool retro/mod dress at The Storm Cellar. I really, really love it.
And Paul had made Amaretto Sours after church, so it just went really well with the whole ensemble.
I rarely find retro/vintage dresses in my size, so it was quite a find for me!
Also, I have a question for you knitter/seamstresses/crocheters, etc out there. I’d like to have some tags for my handknit things, (Something similar to what Vicki over at Dover & Madden uses) but I want them to have Knittybutton on them. Any of you ever used an online place to order them? I’d love to use one that someone out there could recommend.
On our mission trying to fatten Samuel up we’ve been trying some ‘fatty’ foods, including avacado. I thought he would like it…but apparently he did not. He had a rather violent reaction to it and about 30 seconds after this video ended he promptly threw it all up. It was rather disgusting! If you are short on time, I’d skip to about the 35 second mark, that’s where things really get good.
Since he didn’t react well to the avacado, we’ve since tried mixing it with applesauce and oatmeal, but it’s still a no-go. Although he does seem to really like the coconut oil mixed in with his carrots and sweet potatoes! I tasted them and they are TASTY! Mmm mmm mmm!
Also, can I just share my excitement for a moment? I got myself a mom-mobile! (Aka Dodge Caravan)
I’m so excited. And this could not come at a better time, because I am now babysitting a 9 month old girl 3 days a week, and let me tell you, trying to get anywhere with two carseats in my TINY two door car…well, that just wasn’t working very well at all. I’m so excited about my new minivan. I know a lot of people don’t dig the mini-vans, but I totally love them! So spacious! So nice for hauling babies!
Did anyone get any mean tricks played on them yesterday? Paul knows better than to try to play and pranks on me! I don’t respond well to pranks.
And in other news, if you haven’t done so already, click on the link on the top left hand side and “Like” Knittybutton on Facebook! As soon as we get to 100 likes I’ll be holding a giveaway over on the Facebook page!
Remember this jacket? I made it this past summer, in the 3-6 month size, which is what size I assumed Sam would be wearing throughout the winter, but it was huge on him up until now. So I am going to photo-bomb you all with a ton of pictures of Sam wearing it. Because it was too hard to pick just one!
Whew!
I hope you all have a great weekend! Happy Friday!
Ok, now that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are stuck in my head….I introduce my little turtle friends.
3 turtles for a commissioned order. Two girly turtles and one ‘boy’ turtle.
I wonder how many turtles I have knit….likely well over a dozen.
They’re so satisfyingly quick to knit!
What about you, Knittybutton reader? Have you made anything fun lately? Do you have a blog that’s not already listed in my sidebar and would like it to be? I’d love to link you! Share your blog in the comments and I’ll add you to my BlogRoll! (doesn’t need to be knitting related!)
A Slouchy Shades Hat in purple for a commissioned order!
I feel like I am finally getting back on track with my orders. I’m still a little behind, but nowhere as bad as I was a month ago! Luckily orders have stalled a little, so I’ve had a little more breathing room. So, for those of you who are still waiting on orders- they are coming, I swear!
We went in for Samuel’s six month check up on Friday, and the doctor had some concerns about his weight gain, or lack thereof. When Sam was born he was smack-dab in the middle- 50th percentile at seven and a half pounds. He did fine the first few months, even though we had a lot of struggles with breastfeeding, but kept steadily declining on the growth charts. I know that a lot of people don’t put a whole lot of trust in the growth charts, and I realize they are just ‘guidelines’, but Sam had almost completely stopped gaining weight (yet was still getting taller) so there was some reason for concern. He isn’t quite up to 15 lbs, which puts him officially off the charts in terms of weight, and he is just over 26 inches, somewhere in the 30th percentile for height.
So, the doctor wants us to try to get as many calories into Sam as possible, so on top of increasing the amount of nursing sessions a day we are going to do 3 ‘solid’ meals a day. Sam loves to eat, so it’s no problem for us, but trying to figure out higher calorie foods for him to eat is a bit harder than I thought. Avacado’s aren’t in season right now, and the ones I found were kind of nasty looking, but upon some suggestions from other mama’s I am adding coconut oil to his sweet potatoes and carrots. It’s really high in calories and very mild tasting.
But other than his apparent lack of being able to gain weight, Sam is ahead on almost all of his milestones! He is rolling both ways, sitting unassisted and can crawl by doing “The Worm” it’s hilarious- he pushes himself up onto his arms (like a pushup) and then fill launch off and arch his back and flop himself forward. It’s entertaining to watch! He is grabbing and pinching and loves to give open mouth kisses on my cheeks. He also loves blowing raspberries. Yesterday the weather was fantastic, so we went on a really long walk around town and Sam got to try out the swings for the first time. He was in heaven! He absolutely loved it and wouldn’t stop smiling and giggling. I wish I had thought ahead enough to bring my camera with me! He’s also finally sprouting a little bit of hair on top of his head! It’s still pretty blond, so it’s hard to see in pictures, but it’s there alright!
And starting today we’re babysitting another little girl 3 days a week while her mama is in class at U of I, and I am hoping that it goes well, Sam is a bit of a social baby, so I am hoping that he is good while she’s here. Maybe she can teach him some new tricks, too, since she is 3 months older.
If anyone has any tips for fattening up a lil’ baby, feel free to leave your suggestions in the comments!
