Cadence Sweater

I made the Cadence Sweater (By Knitty.com) commissioned by The Yarn Underground.

I LOVE this sweater. I need to make one for myself, for sure. It was a fun and pretty simple knit.

I made it on size 8’s so the shoulders wouldn’t be so droopy and the neckline wouldn’t be as large because I’m not a fan of the off-the-shoulder look.

Steelers Scarf

A custom order for a toddler-sized scarf to match a Steelers Jersey.

Paul told me once that during WWII the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Philadelphia Eagles had to combine teams because both had lost many players to the armed forces- and they became the “Steagles”. I totally thought he was just pulling my leg and making it up, but turns out it’s true! Not really related to this knitting project, but a funny story nonetheless!

Working on some larger Christmas projects (Christmas stockings!) and trying to keep Sam under control and not kill himself by jumping off the table or anything, since he’s really into climbing and jumping lately. He sure keeps me on my toes!

Scalloped Cowl

For my mothers 50th birthday I made her this scalloped cowl out of some 100% wool sport weight yarn.

I think I may need to make one for myself because I love, love, loved it.

Yesterday afternoon I took Sam downtown to “trick or treat” with some friends. He wasn’t really into it, but mama got some candy! And then last night we got invited to go see a show by Hey Marseilles and SeaWolf! It was so much fun to be able to catch up with Jacob (who I went to high school with and is in the band Hey Marseilles!) and get out on a date with Paul on Halloween. We didn’t dress up, but we really should have.

Rainbow Hat

Sam picked out the colors and order of this one. We wanted to make a fun hat for his friend Caden’s first birthday. I thought it’d be more fun to let Sam pick and choose!

I grabbed all my worsted weight acrylic and let him pick and choose. It was pretty funny to watch him contemplate over colors, deciding which ball of yarn to pick up first.

He thought it looked better off of his head.

View from the top!

He is my friendly little ghost! This shirt was actually given to us LAST Halloween by his grandparents and it finally fits him this October! Who could have predicted that mine and Paul’s child would be so tiny? (Not us, especially given the ultrasound tech constantly telling us that we had a giant baby!)

Button Beanie

A flowered beanie for a little girl.

Complete with button flower!

AND it’s own Knittybutton tag!

If you want the hat, it’s available down at Hansel and Gretel (511 N. Main!), (Or it will be once I take it down there today…) along with a few other baby hats. If you buy them from there, you’re supporting two local businesses, so win-win all around, right?

So Many Sock Monkeys…

I greatly underestimated the need for sock monkeys. I had no idea there would be this much interest in sock monkey costumes, so far I’ve sold 7 and I’m turning away orders left and right, simply because of time constraints. I got a lot of compliments on Sam’s last year, but I never knew people would be willing to shell out cold, hard, cash in return for them. Turns out, people are willing to pay for one of a kind, hand-knit costumes… quite a few people!

I’ve still got two and a half to go, and 5 on “standby”. I don’t think I’ll be able to make 7 1/2 more before Halloween, but you never know… my wrists may never recover from this Halloween!

I’m averaging one a week, we’ll see if I can keep that up!

Go Vandals!

A size XL Vandal Hat, just in time for Vandal Football Season.

This is actually a replacement hat for one I made earlier this year, I accidentally made the other one too small!

And now, back to Sock Monkeys! (They’re taking over my life at the moment!!!!!!!)

Jiji The Cat

I had a special request for Jiji the cat from the movie Kiki’s Delivery Service. They wanted it to look something like this:

(Picture property of Studio Ghibli Toys)

I couldn’t find a pattern for it online, so I just decided to wing it.

The head doesn’t quite stay upright as well as I’d like it to, but hey, I think I got pretty close.

I did felt eyes because I couldn’t quite get the right shape with the yarn, and I think it looks a lot better that way.

Ballerina Monkey 2

Another custom order for a ballerina monkey!

We had Sam’s first birthday party today, we had such a blast! I can’t wait to share pictures with you! But for now my parents are in town and I have some sock monkey costumes to knit up (4 more, actually! Yikes, Halloween is not that far away!!)
