12 Weeks, but I didn’t have any limes.

So, I didn’t have any limes laying around in the produce drawer, so no fruit for comparison to the baby.

Although that belly may just due to the fact that we went out to breakfast this morning and I had a big plate of huckleberry stuffed french toast. Soo.. you know, that may just be from breakfast and not from Tiny Tong. I felt kind of silly taking a picture where you can’t really tell that I’m pregnant, and I just look chubby, but I thought my family might want to see.

And joy, oh joy, today Paul got the day off, so we’ve had a leisurely day chilling out around the house, going out to breakfast, and now he’s doing homework (story of my life) and I’m going to watch some Top Chef, because it’s kind of chilly out and I don’t have anywhere to go. But I don’t have to work until Thursday (yippee!) so I have a feeling I might get through the whole season of Top Chef in the next 3 days.

Any of you have any grand plans for today? Do you get the day off?

The Ultrasound

The baby was jumping around like crazy during the ultrasound, waving its little t-rex arms all over the place and bouncing up and down. It was hilarious. I’m not going to lie, I was really, REALLY nervous about this ultrasound. I kept having this awful feeling that something was wrong, but hearing the perfect heartbeat (162 beats per minute!) It took a while for the baby to calm down enough to get a clear picture, but it was good to know that the baby was an active little guy/girl!

And I am so excited to announce that they moved my due date up a week! Hooray! I am now due on Sept 4th, instead of the 11th. Which means that I am like this close to the end of my first trimester! (One week to go until 2nd trimester! woo hoo!)

Ok! So now I need your help. We are in need of a good in-utero name for the baby. I don’t want to keep calling it just “The Baby”, so I am soliciting your awesome in-utero names for our baby! (We’re keeping the real name a secret until the baby is born, but we’ll probably tell you if we find out if it’s a boy or a girl) So, leave a comment if you can think of any great names. 🙂

Better Choices

Now that I’m eating for me and Tiny Tong, I’ve been trying to make some better food choices, and since I obviously won’t be able to keep my New Years Resolution (lose weight. Ha!) I figured I could at least get into better eating habits NOW, so that come September it will be an easy transition into eating healthy, low calorie and hopefully burn off that baby weight before we get snowed in for the winter.

(I love how nice the grapefruit looks on my dessert plates. Very coordinated!)

Mostly it’s making sure I’m getting plenty of colorful fruits and vegetables. I’ve been eating grapefruits for breakfast, and I really think I need to go buy a grapefruit spoon, because man, those things are hard to eat with a regular spoon. Another favorite (and always makes me feel better!) is kiwi. I love kiwis.

I would eat those things all day long if they weren’t so expensive. Oh! Also and Pink Lady Apples. Those with a spoonful of peanut butter make a good mid-morning snack!

All of my food cravings have really just been for tart fruit, which I suppose is a pretty good craving to have! I’ve been having some major meat aversions, chicken has been tasting pretty gross since the beginning of the pregnancy, but in the last 4-5 days beef has really gone downhill for me, so it might be a struggle for me to get enough iron, but I am hoping to balance it out with my vitamins. (I got some gummy ones, here’s to hoping those won’t make me feel as sick!)

Any other moms have any great tips for good things to eat in the first trimester that won’t make you feel awful? (and that don’t have meat?) You should definitely leave me a comment and tell me what worked for you!

Preparing For My Biggest Project Yet.

So, I’m a few months into my biggest project of my life.

Yep, I’m going to be a momma. We could not be more thrilled about this! I’m still pretty early on (almost two months, due in early September), but I couldn’t hold in any longer! (Also, I may not be able to fit into my clothes already, eek), also I was running out of ways to politely decline alcoholic drinks without seeming overly obvious about why I can’t partake.

So, while I’ll try to not turn this into a baby-blog, and try to keep it up with the crafts, it very may well turn out that this blog will basically be all about baby crafts. My apologies in advance, but all I can think about little baby sweaters and baby booties and teeny little baby clothes, you know how it is.

We’re just completely over-the-moon excited about our little Tiny Tong!
