Giveaway

Also, keep your eyes peeled for a Giveaway either at the end of this week or possible early next week!

I do have a favor to ask of you though, what are your favorite types of Giveaways? The knit toys? The hat? The headbands? The scarflette? (Maybe not the hat or scarf for July, eh?) I am thinking it will be another knit toy, since the majority of my readers are moms with wee ones at home. But please give me your input and let me know! I wanna give what the people wanna get.

Family Trees

These are some mighty fine looking Family Trees. However, with a family as large as mine I am not sure how well that these designs would hold up.

Erika made us this fabulous Family Tree of sorts for our Family Reunion this year (Sadly, Paul and I weren’t able to join them)

It’s got all of the families listed in the branches, and our grandparents, Harvey and Betty Kvale in the roots.

She is a far better artist than I.

Little Bitterroot.

Montana is beautiful this time of year, and the drive from here to there is stunning.

Lots of fun, lots of bug bites and lots of sun! I got a crispy little sunburn on my face and shoulders.

Helping with the dishes.

Chilling on the dock with my bestie.

Campfire fun.

Our cabin!

Besides a little snafu with my car*, it was a great trip.

*My car broke down in the driveway of the camp! I made it 300 miles and then started smoking and the transmission blew out as I was pulling into the driveway. I was a little freaked out about how I was going to get home, but a friend was driving back to Washington on Sunday and dropped me off in Couer d’Alene, Paul just drove up and we spent the afternoon there.

Auf wiedersehen

It’ll be quiet around here this weekend as I’ll be in Montana, I’ll be back Sunday night, hopefully with good stories! I’m a little scared of driving that whole way by myself in the late evening, but hopefully I won’t hit any deer or elk or anything.

Hope you all have a good weekend!

Wrap Sweater

So I know it doesn’t look like much right now, but the whole body is done, and I am 1/2 way done with one arm, then the other arm and the hood are all that needs to be completed. Well, that and finding suitable buttons. That is always difficult for me.

I know it looks really big for a 1 yr old, but it has to wrap around them 1 1/2 times, so I am hoping it’ll fit by this winter. If not, there’s always next year.

Bitterroot!

I am so excited, this weekend I get to go to Montana and enjoy the shores of Little Bitterroot Lake!

It’s got great swimming and lots of sun.

I wish I could go for the whole week, but I only get to go for the weekend.

I can’t wait to sit next to a big bonfire.

Sooo excited!

Nimbus

So I just got some yarn in the mail.

It’s not quite as olive as the picture lets on.

I believe I will be making the Nimbus,(see below)

(I would modify it quite a bit, full sleeves and drop the waist)

OR the Drops Sweater

because I am very partial to hoods.

So what you think?!

Red Cable Blanket

I finished my red blanket.

I’m pretty happy with it. It’s small, but I am pretty tired of working on it, so I decided to cast off today.

It’s about 3′ x 4′ or so. But I was getting sick of doing cables.

Basic pattern:

Cast on 146.

RS:Knit two, purl two, knit 6, purl two, rep to last 2 stitches, K2
WS:Purl 2, knit 2, purl 6, knit two, purl 2, rep to end

Repeat these two rows for 8 rows.

Every eight rows do a cable row as follows: Knit 2, purl 2, slip 3 stitches onto cable needle, hold to front, knit next 3 stitches, then knit the 3 stitches from cable needle, purl two, rep to end.

Homemade Mac’n cheese

Last night we made mac ‘n cheese. It was so, so, so yummy.

It was delish. I added some dijon mustard, but next time I will definitly leave that out. But I might add a bit of ham or chicken, to make it a bit more filling.

also, some nice flowers from the farmers market.

And, a parting shot of my pearly whites! It’s so nice to not have braces!

Brown Cable Knit Sweater

So, I finished it last night (well, finished but no buttons and not blocked)

The front.

Even the sleeves have cables in them.

The back.

I just have to pick out some buttons, and then block it. I want to make another one, now that I’ve made this one and I know how I want to change the hood a little bit, and do a few things differently, but all in all, I really like it. I like it a lot. This one might go in the keeper box. We’ll see.
