That Shalom Sweater.

Remember this Shalom?

Well, I never wore it. Well, that’s not true, I think I wore it maybe twice. Which is just sad, to put that much work into it, but I couldn’t quite ever get it to be exactly what I wanted. Then this morning I realized it. The sleeves were just too baggy.

So, one little snip and then a lot of unraveling and then I bound off the edges and, ta-da!

Don’t mind the makeup-less face and the just-woke-up-from-a-two-hour-nap hair.

I haven’t decided if I am going to retry the sleeves or if I am just going to leave it as-is, I think I like it just as it is, I think I’ll get more use out of it. And now I’ve got a big ball of bright red yarn to make something out of! Lovely!

  1. I like it as is best (especially over that black shirt! but any color would do, really) because of the um, ribbed? stripe that before divided the sleeve in half. This way it goes all the way through the bodice of the sweater onto the sleeve and finishes the sleeve off nicely.

  2. Also, you’re totally pretty without make up. It’s a look I think I’ve seen only a handful of times, but you can rock it. Maybe you should more often.

  3. Its real cute with the short sleeves. Make something for the baby with the left over yarn. Especially if its a little girl. Red is a power color. Thanks for sharing.

  4. Ali, did you have to do extensive blocking with yours? I haven’t blocked mine (that I finished a year ago) and it is SUPER small. It’s long enough, but the side seams don’t come close to matching up to my actual “sides”. As uncomplicated as blocking is, I just haven’t had the motivation to do it because I’m not convinced it’s going to do *that* much good in my case.

  5. Funny you should mention that, Betsy. I finished mine LAST February, and never got around to blocking it. But I am thinking that I might do it sometime this week, because the bottom part is starting to roll upwards and I think that might help it stay put a little bit. I hardly ever get around to blocking anything that I make for myself… if I am selling it or I am giving it away I will usually take the time to do it! I don’t know why it is so hard for me!!

  6. I really like it without the sleeves – how wonderful you found such a quick solution and will get some wear out of it
