Nothing is safe.

Sam has learned to climb stairs.

He was so incredibly thrilled with himself, though. Smiled for a good 20 minutes.

Getting back down proved trickier than he anticipated. So he just jumped. But I was there to catch him, don’t worry.

Sam also got a ride-along toy, he can’t move on it yet, but he really enjoyed sitting on it and holding onto the handle.

He is getting such a hilarious personality. And he’s getting really fun to hang out with. He’s really coming into his own, it feels like every day he is learning new tricks and getting into more stuff and it’s a lot of fun to watch him figure things out. He’s getting really good at crawling (so fast!) and he babbles non-stop now. (Lots of mama’s, dada’s, baba’s and lalalalala’s, and a WHOLE lot of squeals!) He is still having a bit of separation anxiety, but as long as dad is in view he is happy as a clam. He likes to blow raspberries on your arm. He’s also VERY ticklish and he will laugh hysterically if you tickle his feet or his armpits. Another favorite activity is pulling hoodie strings out. He’s becoming such a funny little person! And I am so glad I get to be around for all of this!

Sam’s big mess.

So I swear I just left him alone for a second…

I left a potted plant on the floor in the kitchen and he managed to tip it over. As soon as I walked in the room he knew he was in trouble! He scurried away from the scene of the crime as fast as he could, but he was giggling the whole time. That smile is him pleading guilty.

And now I put the babygate up if I need to run upstairs…

Baby Led Weaning

Sam will eat just about anything in a spoon (except avacado or bananas!) but spoon feeding isn’t really the most fun, and it’s hard to eat while also feeding Sam, and I like it when we can all eat together. (Plus, if you are eating and Sam is not he is very unhappy) So I am trying a bit of baby-lead weaning. I steamed up some butternut squash and made sure it was very, very soft and let him have at it. He seemed a little confused and needed a little bit of guidance, but seemed to like it ok.

He’s also very fond of grabbing a big handful of it and throwing it on the floor. Hm.. we’re trying to discourage that.

Also, the kid has discovered his feet.

And he is in love with them.

Kamiak Butte

We went on a hike around Kamiak Butte yesterday! It was our first really warm day (mid 80’s!) and it was the perfect weather for a nice hike!

Sam got really mad about being in the Ergo, so Paul carried him the rest of the way. It was a 3 mile hike, so that’s kind of a long ways to carry a baby on your shoulders! But Sam was laughing and smiling the whole time when he was out of the Ergo. It was kind of sweaty and hot in the carrier, so I don’t really blame him for not wanting to be in there! But my legs feel a little like jello this morning! I haven’t gone hiking in a long time and my body was no quite prepared for the steep incline, especially with a 15lb baby strapped on my back! Next time I am bringing a baby carrier that Paul can wear, too. But it was a really gorgeous out there! We will definitely have to go again- and if any of you come to visit us over here in Idaho we’ll have to take you because the view from the butte is absolutely GORGEOUS.

Beatrice the Ballerina

I am incredibly proud of this. I made a monkey ballerina, and I am SO excited to show this to you guys! Paul set up the photo shoot and took pictures of it for me.

Guys, I am so proud of this little ballerina. I am so sad that she is leaving the house tomorrow to her new owner.

Sweet Potato

There are some bigger knit projects in the works, so I don’t have many crafty updates for you quite yet, but to tide you over here are a few pictures of Sam eating sweet potatoes.

This is his “hollering for more” face.

Eating puffs.

“Look, mama! I got my bib off!”

I think we are having some luck with fattening him up. We are offering him food pretty often, and he’ll usually take it. He loves carrots, sweet potatoes, broccoli, but most of all MANGOES! The kid goes crazy for mango. Not a huge fan of  other fruits yet, but that’s alright, he loves his veggies!

Monkey Hat

Sam, even though he is sick with a cold, was kind enough to model this monkey hat for me. And he was even wearing his monkey jammies!

And the hat is obviously way too big for him, but it’s going out to a toddler in San Francisco.

And yes, that’s snot running down his face. Ew. Didn’t notice that til I uploaded the pictures.

And now we are off to enjoy some of this sunny weather! Oh, sun, how we have missed you!

T-Rex!

Custom order for a Blue and Green T-Rex!

I’m not sure why he ended up having sort of a duck-lips sort of thing… a little funny looking, but maybe it adds to its charm?
