My Big Baby.

It’s my birthday today (the big 25!), and on the eve of my birthday I got a birthday present. I got to look at my cute little baby for an hour!

So that’s not my newest ultrasound picture, because I didn’t get around to scanning them quite yet because I’ve been busy packing for our trip to Tacoma! I am so excited because my baby brother is getting married on Saturday and then the weekend afterward Paul’s friend Eric is getting married in Portland, so we are just making a week of it and heading out of town. I am so excited to be getting out of Moscow for a bit! And I haven’t seen my friends in what feels like ages (It’s really only been about 3 months, but it feels like forever, plus I’ve pretty much doubled in size since then!)

Speaking of doubling in size… apparently my baby is huge. He is measuring 2 weeks above his gestational age. The ultrasound tech told me that babies his age are typically around the 13-14 ounce mark, where mine was measuring nearly a pound and a half! She said if he keeps growing at this rate we might end up with a 12-13 pounder. Eek. Although, I have heard of that happening to several people and by the time 40 weeks rolls around they are average 7-8 pound babies, so I am trying not to freak out about having a giant baby! (But Paul’s mom has mentioned a few times that Tongs apparently just have big babies…) But also in good news, he’s perfectly healthy and it took a long time to get a good picture of him because he was super active! The tech said she hasn’t ever seen a baby quite as active as Togglebuttons, at least not this early in the pregnancy. He was dancing and squirming around in there so much that it was making me laugh, which in turn made him dance around all the more!

Well, we are off, so blogging might be a bit light around here for the next week as we will be enjoying some vacation time (and Paul will be done with school for the summer, and I’ll get my husband back!) I’m so excited! (but not super excited to spend 6 hours in a car… I’m thinking there will be a lot of bathroom breaks!) I’ll try to come back and post some pictures of the lovely wedding later this week. Have a great weekend!

Retro Ripples

I finished another project today. A ripple blanket in fun, retro colors.

Ok, that was just a little teaser for you… the whole thing makes me a bit dizzy, so I thought I would just show you a bit of it. Are you ready?

Hmm, looking at it now it looks like the top right grew a little faster than the rest of it, but pretend you don’t see it, ok?

Mmm, how I love the soothing crocheting motion of making the ripples.

It’s quite big, for a ripple blanket. Bigger than the rest I’ve made, at least.

And I am so glad that it’s finished. It’s been taking up the corner of my couch for way too long.

Gray Slouch Hat (Help me come up with a better name, please)

Ok, so I actually finished something! Huzzah, huzzah!

Um, don’t mind all of the broken capillaries all over my face. I spent the better part of yesterday curled up on the bathroom floor, which was totally awesome… but luckily I have an amazing husband who is at my beck and call. Guys, that man is just amazing, let me tell you. I know if someone was throwing up in my bathroom I would be as far away as I could, but he stands there, holds my hair back, gets me glasses of water and carries me back to bed. What a guy, I tell you.

So, what I need from YOU is to help me name it. As you know I am not super creative with naming and I want to have a good name for this hat, and I’ll be sharing the pattern with you all really soon, too!

It’s been a while since I wrote up a pattern for you guys, so I am excited about this. I love getting feedback on them and I absolutely LOVE it when people send me pictures of the things that they’ve made with my patterns. Seriously, it’s so fun to see them, so if you have made any of them let me know and send me pictures! I love love love it.

So pretty please, let me know of a cool name for this hat pattern and maybe you will get something special. Just maybe. I can’t guarantee anything since I’ve got a several custom orders in the works right now, but maybe you’ll get lucky and get your own little Knittybutton handmade item.

Ok, so I need to get off my keister and get to work cleaning my house (because that sort of thing takes a backseat when you are sick, you know.) and start getting things in order for our vacation at the end of this week. Woo! This weekend for my brothers wedding in Tacoma on Saturday and then on Wednesday we are headed down to Portland area for ANOTHER wedding that Paul is in for one of his good friends so I am really looking forward to 9 days of NOT being in Moscow. That’s right, we’re getting the heck outta Dodge!
