February Lady

So my goal for February is to finish my February Lady Sweater.

I don’t think I will actually finish it, but it’s good to have goals, right? I’ve only got one project that’s being made right now for someone else (At least that I am getting paid for) but right now I am just doing like 5 feet of stockinette stitch, so this sweater is just the perfect thing to mix it up with. The lace pattern is simple enough that I don’t need to keep the instructions up, but hard enough that I need to at least be paying attention. It’s the perfect project.

In other news, I started my new job today. Seems pretty straight forward so far, just hoping that it stays low-stress, because I am all about no stress these days. Also, I think I need to buy some more comfortable shoes, because standing all day is not something that I am used to. So if any of you locals needs some craft supplies, stop in and say hello!

That Shalom Sweater.

Remember this Shalom?

Well, I never wore it. Well, that’s not true, I think I wore it maybe twice. Which is just sad, to put that much work into it, but I couldn’t quite ever get it to be exactly what I wanted. Then this morning I realized it. The sleeves were just too baggy.

So, one little snip and then a lot of unraveling and then I bound off the edges and, ta-da!

Don’t mind the makeup-less face and the just-woke-up-from-a-two-hour-nap hair.

I haven’t decided if I am going to retry the sleeves or if I am just going to leave it as-is, I think I like it just as it is, I think I’ll get more use out of it. And now I’ve got a big ball of bright red yarn to make something out of! Lovely!

Better Choices

Now that I’m eating for me and Tiny Tong, I’ve been trying to make some better food choices, and since I obviously won’t be able to keep my New Years Resolution (lose weight. Ha!) I figured I could at least get into better eating habits NOW, so that come September it will be an easy transition into eating healthy, low calorie and hopefully burn off that baby weight before we get snowed in for the winter.

(I love how nice the grapefruit looks on my dessert plates. Very coordinated!)

Mostly it’s making sure I’m getting plenty of colorful fruits and vegetables. I’ve been eating grapefruits for breakfast, and I really think I need to go buy a grapefruit spoon, because man, those things are hard to eat with a regular spoon. Another favorite (and always makes me feel better!) is kiwi. I love kiwis.

I would eat those things all day long if they weren’t so expensive. Oh! Also and Pink Lady Apples. Those with a spoonful of peanut butter make a good mid-morning snack!

All of my food cravings have really just been for tart fruit, which I suppose is a pretty good craving to have! I’ve been having some major meat aversions, chicken has been tasting pretty gross since the beginning of the pregnancy, but in the last 4-5 days beef has really gone downhill for me, so it might be a struggle for me to get enough iron, but I am hoping to balance it out with my vitamins. (I got some gummy ones, here’s to hoping those won’t make me feel as sick!)

Any other moms have any great tips for good things to eat in the first trimester that won’t make you feel awful? (and that don’t have meat?) You should definitely leave me a comment and tell me what worked for you!

Ezra and his Stripey Blanket

I just thought I would pop in this evening and let you guys all know how cute my nephew is curled up in the blanket that I made for him before he was born.

I stole this picture from my sisters blog, but I couldn’t help how cute he looked all wrapped up in his blanket of many colors!

Happy February.

I, for one, am glad that January is done. January is usually the most dull month (at least for me) , and while some exciting things have happened so far in the new year (obviously) I am always ready to move on. So, Happy February. I’m sort of halfheartedly looking for a job, and I’ve got a few prospects (and a second interview tomorrow) but it’s nothing that I’m super psyched about, but I think it’d be good for me to do something and keep myself busy until the baby comes, otherwise I’m likely to go crazy, especially since orders have dropped off a lot since the holidays.

Since I have nothing crafty to show you, I will just show you pictures from the wedding I was in last weekend. It was truly lovely, and I was so blessed to be a part of such a wonderful event.
