My Big Scary Project.

So, I finished the first 1/2 of the intarsia knitting on my Andre the Giant project.

The lovely backside of my work.

And yes, all of those ends have to be woven in. Ugh. I think that between weaving in ends and seaming, those two things would have an epic battle on the things that I hate the most about knitting. Actually, I think those are the only two things I hate about knitting. Everything else, well, we have a good relationship.

So there is his face. Kind of frightening, no? But considering this is what he is supposed to look like: (look down) I feel like I did a pretty good job.

I think it’s his eyes that creep me out the most.

I notice that some of the stitches look kind of loose, and others are pulling, that is just because of all of the loose ends hanging out the back. Once those are pulled tight and woven in, it will all be much smoother and nicer looking. Well, as nice as Andre the Giant can look, I guess.

Oh, and just in case you didn’t realize just hot HUGE this giants face is, here is my hand for some comparison.

I know, right? This scarf is going to be hooge. And now, wow. Now I get to do another 5 feet of straight stockinette stitch! WOO! My favorite thing ever!

Ok, so add one more thing to my knitting-hate list. 5 feet of stockinette stitch.

Blackberry Slouch

This is another order for a cabled Slouchy hat.

Sorry, you don’t get any pictures of me modeling it.

It’s too late at night to try to take pictures of myself…. maybe tomorrow.

Today Paul made us a delicious breakfast, then we ran errands all afternoon, I picked up some fabric for a very fun project (well, two projects) Paul wants me to make him an shirt like the one Jimmy Stewart wears in It’s A Wonderful Life, a highschool jersey.

So, who knows how it’ll turn out. I am not the best seamstress…. but I will be sure to post my progress on it.

Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend! Stay warm out there!

Blue Ruffles

I whipped up another Ruffled Hat.

Modeled, of course, by my coffee canister.

I’m pretty fond of these little flowery, ruffled hats.

Intarsia

My latest project.

Trying my hand at intarsia knitting. Not as hard as I thought, but it is taking a lot of time. It’s going to be the most labor intensive scarf I’ll ever make, I bet. This is the chart I am working off of.

It’s that OBEY stuff you see around. I dunno. I only vaguely knew about it before I was commissioned to make this piece. I had to look it up on Wikipedia to get the back story on it. But the face is of Andre the Giant, and, well, we all know that I love The Princess Bride, so I was only too happy to oblige.

Happy Birthday, Charissa!

Heather Grey Slouch

I finished my Grey Slouch.

It’s a custom order for a friend I used to work with back in Tacoma.

Uh, don’t mind the messy couch….

Happy New Year!

2010, you’ve been grand…

It’s been the best year yet, I believe. Although 2009 was good (getting married, and all) 2010 was pretty fantastic. Seeing one of my best friends get married, and the other best friend getting engaged, quitting my job (woo hoo!), moving to a bigger apartment, being able to knit to my hearts content, learning to be a good wife, learning how to really cook and bake (I was kind of faking it before…) getting to know more friends in Moscow, and having the best Christmas of MY LIFE.

Yes, 2010, you were a good year. (But you know what? I don’t think I’ll miss it…) 2011 is going to be even more awesome and amazing. I’m looking forward to a new year of blogging and, just so you know, your comments and kind words really, REALLY make my day. I love hearing from you all, and it makes it so much more fun to blog when I get to write and knit for such awesome people, like you.

So, here’s to 2011. (You can clink your glasses, now!) May it bring you everything you hope, and that you and yours will be blessed beyond your wildest expectations. (I know I have!)

(P.S. I’ll be back this evening with an awesome giveaaaaaway!!) (P.S.S. You gotta say the giveaaaaaway just like Oprah would! It makes it a lot more fun)
